ShrikeBot Version 2.3.1
New Release 06-november-2004
ShrikeBot Version 2.3.1 Get it from the FileBase Adds and fixes:: :-) This time the max_bots function is really working Fixed also the shrikebot.cfg handling. How to use max_bots / min_bots :: Either give the command on the console. Or put it in the shrikebot.cfg If you want different max_bots settings for various maps (big/small) then add the max_bots command to the dod_mapname_shrikebot.cfg in the \shrikebot\config folder. If you'll have to make a map cfg your self. You can also add addbot lines in a mapspecific.cfg its the same as for the general shrikebot.cfg however shrikebot.cfg gets only read when there is no map specific available. So it is important not to have addbot command in \shrikebot\shrikebot.cfg and \shrikebot\config\dod_caen_shrikebot.cfg Or have max_bots only in shrikebot.cfg while you have dod_mapname_shrikebot.cfg files for the maps :D Have Fun ----------------------------------------------- New Release 08-october-2004 ShrikeBot Version 2.3 Get it from the FileBase adds and fixes:: :-) -Added DOD 1.3 support -Updated installer -Updated waypoints for new and changed maps -New command listing -New waypoint load and save feature. "name option" -Fixed flag detection (which team it is) -Fixed min/max bots -Added future TOD 1.3 support -Added kick all bots if X number of real clients are connected -Added team balance (evens teams) -Updated waypoint engine. (new waypoint version. older waypoints might not work anymore or get updated by the bot code) -Added limits.cfg new way of configuring how many and which class and team bots should join. see manual for more info. -Removed bot.cfg functions It is a full release and for steam users it should work out of the box "click and play" I edit the -dll launch options into your dod/tod games button in the windows registry. don't fear if it finds a valid -dll option already there it not doing anything and if you have already other launch options in it then the installer asks if its ok. ;) This is the last release supporting won version. The installer won't have a won option then anymore. It might work in future but im not gunna code/develop/support/bug fix on it anymore. From now on won users have to edit there own liblist.gam file Sorry for all but won is dead. :( Much more information in the update manual !!! (its included in the new release.) :D Have Fun |

Re: ShrikeBot Version 2.3.1
Cpl. Shrike,
I was just wondering if you were continuing to update these bots. I've noticed a million things that I would change, and rather than post them all, I was wondering if there was any possibility of you sharing your source. Obviously I would give you full credit. I wanted to update Sturmbot, but since the source is not available, and never will be, I would like to use your code instead. Why? Because I'd rather not waste my time developing a bot to work for the new dod using steam. Rather, I'd like to add and improve upon your excellent bots. Please let me know if this is possible; otherwise, perhaps you'd like some of my suggestions? Thanks, Jacob Janzen www.nymtec.com |
Re: ShrikeBot Version 2.3.1
Well i was looking for someone who was willing to help on the coding part some time ago. But it still stands.
Im still coding for it but im also looking into the dod:source bot. The last actualy the most. If you give me an email we can discuss it further. shrikebot at bots-united.com |

Re: ShrikeBot Version 2.3.1
I downloaded that version and I've tried different attempts to get the program loaded to my gameserver via ftp. and have failed. Is there anyone out there that could help a VERY new wannabe admin (lol) set up these bots. And if loaded properly when I leave the room, will they still be there?..... Any help will do.... thanks.....R

A bit of background first... There is a way to get the older versions of dod into steam, the way most people do it is just plonk a folder called dod_31 in the steam half life folder, restart and launch in the games list. You can actually make a startup screen and play with it a bit, I have dod beta versions 1.3, 2.1 and the best of betas... beta 3.1 working in steam with their own custom main menu. All that is missing is a bot. Then fans... past and present, could have their old dod as a single player game...in steam. All old versions of Sturmbot crashes the old dod version in steam back to the desktop as soon as the map starts loading. Making a bot, for at least dod beta 3.1 (in steam) would mean I could make a package in a installer to install the dod files, the fixes required to the main menu and have it appear in the games list...and include a working bot. Why? I have dod:s and... it's OK but it I still crave for the older ones, I play steam 1.3 dod and shrike's great little bot. I would still love to go back to the older ones as well. DoD:s ruined "dod". It's CS:S in WW2. Shrikebot maybe the only way the older dod versions can still remain playable. Sure you can install the old Serria half life directory and old Strumbot versions but my video card / widescreen monitor has a big problem doing this... when in the Steam half life folder they work OK...but no bot! So... if you can, if you have the time, please consider the older ones as well as the current steam 1.3. Info of older pre steam dod releases that had major changes... dod Beta 1.3b [7.27.01] Sturmbot ver 1.1 Shrikebot (none) others... JoeBOT and BOC (Brain of Combat) dod Beta 2.1 [5.20.02] Sturmbot ver 1.3 Shrikebot (none) dod Beta 3.1 [8.7.02] Sturmbot ver 1.5 Shrikebot (none) Waypoints are not a problem... plenty of people know how, or like to waypoint. If need any more info contact me ...insane_dod[at]dodbits.com Damn I wish I had more skill with programing :( |
