HL1 source code
Do you think that valve ever will opensource HL1? It would be nice, but I'm not so sure about it personally...

Re: HL1 source code
I don't think so. But anyway they don't need by it anymore. They now have the Source Engine and can fun with it. :P So they will never update the HL1 engine so maybe they can let us to update it ;).

Re: HL1 source code
Doesn't sound like something Valve would do.

Re: HL1 source code
Just judge by their fscking Steam DRM thingy...
And as long as we already have many engines which are free software (such as Quake 1~3, Cube, etc) and even totally free FPS games like Nexuiz, I don't think we'll need that so much anyway :) |
Re: HL1 source code
The good in to the HL engine is the mod support. I don't think that many open source engines have that. :)

Re: HL1 source code
100% no... lol
If you want an engine like HL, just take Quake, give it individual palettes for each texture, make a C++ mod interface, and make the map limits as high as they can go. That, 24-bit lightmaps and a client-side DLL. It's not really that different. |
Re: HL1 source code
the half life one engine is based off of the quake one correc?
i voted no btw. |
Re: HL1 source code
