hows united bot coming on?
hey all,
im expecting a flaming but here goes, read what youve guys have been saying about the united bot, sounds a brilliant idea. I havnt created any direct bots to speak of, as in what you will know as bots. But currently im a systems and control engineering student based in the UK. I spend quite a lot of time studying similar systems mainly for industry though, and I would very much like to help out if you want any help. As I said I'm not too familiar with bot coding, however I can code VC++ and I'm very familar with the concepts of control and AI design in this aspect. this may add a different aspect to the design/concept to what other people can provide, if your willing to put up with my ignorance of interfacing into the game, any time I have spare I would be willing to help with. you can find information about the united bot 'interface' alread on the wiki. Perhaps it can get you going on an interface for games we do not support yet.
Ie, there are several projects starting up that try to use this principle; providing an interface (in cpp format) so you can compile your bot for game X or game Y. |

...but so far we're yet to convince Valve to modify the HL2 SDK so as to allow coders to write bot plugins for any mod (even those we don't have the source code). I believe it's just a matter of time. The early HL1 SDK didn't support bots at all anyway.
