EPB Current Progress..
 
Heyyo,

Well, THE_STORM's been working pretty hard on EPB, and has already done some cleaning up. The latest test works pretty good! just a couple small bugs need fixing and then the bot's ready for release. the main one we need to focus on is the bot ignoring the min/max skill settings and setting itself straight at skill level 200. :P

Another small bug we're working on is the CS 1.6 menus, they're currently coming up as #Menu_1#Menu_2

After that? You folks can enjoy E[POD]bot on CS 1.6 with ease.

Also planned is to make E[POD]bot a metamod plugin, and maybe a metamod plugin option like YAPB. I also just e-mailed Will Day to see if we can keep E[POD]bot close source cause it's LN's main wish for the bot since he says it's a very messy setup, and doesn't want others to follow his example. :P

Other plans for the bot include changing the waypoint system to the one created by SF and Austin which's implemented in POXbot, and PODbot mm (*coughs* sPlOrYgOn *coughs* lol.. ;)) cause I find it much easier to waypoint, and with TWrecks, SF, and Biohazard pumping out those awesome waypointpacks, who wouldn't wanna peice of that eh? :D

technically if you link against the metamod SDK you cannot, but in practice many people do that. You can keep your metamod plugin closed source, nobody but integrists like Whistler will bother you. Just nag them :P :D

Heh, well, Will Day suggested to just make E[POD]bot an open source bot so maybe others could come in n' do bugfixes every once inna while, so tha'd be cool. Cause I do remember reading an old RACCbot thread where some dude helped you out with your navigation stuff there PMB, so yeah, maybe open source would be a good thing, even with sloppy coding. So now THE_STORM is trying to consolidate with LN to see if he will allow us to release the sourcecode of E[POD]bot so we can into EPB a metamod.

I'm sure that since THE_STORM is taking actual classes they'll teach him how to become a clean and efficient coder, so maybe by the time we get to open source n' metamod it should be clean enough for LN to approve. ;)

So if all goes well with LN, then Whistler, you won't have to pull out your biblical licence agreement of the GPL. :P

But seriously: That's definitely some good news! You do realize, however, that by upgrading to the new WP system, you will give up 100% compatibility to the old PB 2.5 WP format due to the changed camp WPs, eh?

True, but so far I havn't seen bots camp too much, especially on E[POD]bot. The attacking teams on any gamemode isin't alloud to camp. So CT on Hostage Rescue maps, Terrorists on Bombing maps, CT's on Escort maps... you get the idea. ;)

Well, what I was thinking for camping waypoints, is insead of those 2 values, that the bots just looked at random waypoints, so as long as the level has good waypoints, the bots should look all over the place. Then we wouldn't have to worry aboot camping incompatiblities. For now this is just a concept idea, so it may get implemented, it might not... only time will tell I guess. :)

BTW, the new version of E[POD]bot is out! go get it n' give er' a go! It's at my website for now (http://www.freewebs.com/mard_lltd/) but I'll try to get it on the filebase if I can... Also, I'll try to contact LN, n' see if he can give me access to his site so I can update there... (wonder how much per month he's paying to keep that site up?....)

New progress reports! w00t! gotta love progress :)

We got full shield compatiblity thanks to help from PMB, and also, the bots now pickup better pistols. :)

We're also seeing if we can land some webspace here on bots-united cause our freewebs ones are like, limited, and our built-in templates suck cause like, everyone else uses them too. :P

I was trying to make my own template using M$ Frontpage 2003 (w00t? lol) but that fell over when I remembered I have no artistic skills. :D

So? If we can't get some webspace on BU, np, I'm just gonna spam LN's inbox ti'll he eventually gives me access to the site, or blocks me. :P So here goes... I feel all giddy (I know, old and crappy word, but I feel retarded right now so gimmie a break :D) cause now I feel more important towards the bot cause I'm doing more than just waypointing. I'm like, the middle man, yeah, he's always the cool one... lol. Jesus, I really need a coffe break from school..... :)

MarD don't forget that now I must fix one more bug -- the bots don't move 15 sec after they finish with buying.
I know what is the reason so the fix will be soon.
Now I have to much lessons for learning and I have no free time.
So I will fix this problem in Sunday(I think ;) )

Ok, I beta-tested E[POD]bot again and it was great to see the bots pickup better pistols, but sometimes they would drop their primary weapon instead of the pistol, and just stand over the weapon forever. :P

Here's 2 other parts that THE_STORM e-mailed me:
+Added Metamod support (The bots are not a metamod plugin but if we have metamod instaled the bots load metamod.dll file so metamod is now plugin for the bots :P)
+Fixed all crash bugs (The bots don't crash when load a .pxp files)

so yes, no more needing to manually delete the pxp files, w00t! :D

And that's nice eh? how it still loads metamod if it's installed, so we might not have to release the source code, but if one of you forum council members agree that we must then just gimmie me or THE_STORM a shout n' we'll see what we can do. ;)
