Bots servers collocated on the internet at 100 mbs
28 bots vs 4 humans on each server 69.13.48.110 69.13.48.120 Let me know what you think! C U there... |
I wish I had DSL :)
|
holy shit 28 vs 4 !
Are your servers running CS 1.5 or 1.6? What bots? |

They are set to be a little easier. This makes for great gaming with 4 humans who can play as a tight team! |
CS 1.5 is still going strong I see. I'm beginning to wonder if Valve will ever take down their won servers.
|
why not? if you do you eventually force people to turn over or to buy a new CS (CZ?) version...
|
If they do, people could still run their servers with the -nomaster option, I think, no ?
|
Re: Bots servers collocated on the internet at 100 mbs
i don't know... i mean:
- nomaster still makes it auth with won servers. |
Re: Bots servers collocated on the internet at 100 mbs
how come LAN servers don't need to auth with won servers then ???:(
|
Re: Bots servers collocated on the internet at 100 mbs
Hmm, when i create a lan game, i still see 'auth with won' on my console ???:(
|
Re: Bots servers collocated on the internet at 100 mbs
I think we need a server with Realbot in here...

Re: Bots servers collocated on the internet at 100 mbs
There's another one for CS 1.6 here, it's running WIP #6 as of this post
http://forums.bots-united.com/showth...=1926#post1926 I have problems when the map changes. The realbot plugin fails each time, so I have it stuck on one map only. |
Re: Bots servers collocated on the internet at 100 mbs
Hi,
1.5 runs without WON, it needs some advanced network setup (all clients must have an ip within one subnet), and some options in the server.cfg it will try to reach the won servers, but operate without. Regards Onno |

Our servers are going to attempt to run hpb-bot. In all our years of running server, not even the developers can create a STABLE bot program for ANY HL1 or HL2 server. These servers with their built in bots, (CSCZ or CS:S) [Counter-Strike: Condition Zero or Counter-Strike: Source for thoes nuubs], are crashing left and right with memory errors with bots in them. Without them they run fine and stable as they should. So tell us, why can't the developers even get it right? ... Things that make you go, WTF!? Even if your server was in a Data Center on the backbone to the internet there is NO WAY IN HELL you can run at 100MB. Only on your LAN (Local Area Network) can you truly run a server with a 100MB connection. Even today on 12/16/2008 the FASTEST Data Center backbone connection is only 75MB. (At least in the USA). Yes, those who control our internet in the USA are not as generous with Bandwidth as other countries. We are lucky as customers if we can get 25MB download (I have tested at about 27MB) and 2MB upload Countries have customers who claim to have 100MB Upload and Download, but not USA. Maybe I should relocate to another country and truly run the BEST SERVERS eva! In a nutshell, this country is going to hell in a handbag. :censored: Krillin :sleep1: |

Hi, I don't think your providers cap your BW. It's rather the WAN Carriers who limit per single connection (or IP to IP) bandwith to protect their WAN links. This is common accros the atlantic (e.g. 25mbit using 3U) and from continental europe to gb (33 mbit with belgacom), it might be used inside the US too. Since quite a number of customers are on high BW endpoints now a days (companies as well as large buildings in some cities) you need to limit some basics. It know this from cologne, the local city carrier rolled out a 100Mbit ethernet product in a student neighborhood. The uplinks and many crosslinks in the city where choked for days :punk: Anyways, since I quit my last job I can now recomend those products honestly :-) Try server4you.net or serverloft.com, they are in St Louis MO on a pretty decent Level3 link. No BW caps and reasonable traffic volume included, the brands are both in the same dc, but they sell different HW+service packages. Those guys are in business for 10 years and the responsible manager at site really keeps his network in shape, I saw him in action :donatello: Of course they are not perfect all the time, but they feel responsible for what they do. Regarding your idea to move servers across the atlantic I suggest you rethink this. Most, if not all, carriers limit BW quite roughly on trans atlatic links. And it adds up another 80 (very rare) to 140 (likely) msec to your latency. Try with the bots united webserver. Cheers Onno |
