Fake Lag
I found a console command where you can create lag so your bots don't look so bot-ish. Cmd is "fakelag 0". The higher the number the higher the lag. But it says you have to turn cheats on or sumthing. I tried sv_cheats 1 but didn't do nething. Help?

Well usually people who see players with a constant ping of 5 just get out. I heard some others complain about noone coming so this may help, maybe? I haven't been able to get it to work

I think you can't do a fake lag... it is calculate by cs and not by the bot. Not sure there's a way to change it for a bot. Maybe a bot developper could confirm that...

sv_cheats and fakelag has been disabled in 1.5-1.6+
the only way is for someone to use the CS source and make a hack to fix it, but in doing so there account would be banned (if you use a client as the server and not HLDS) |

OR, you could type "sv_cheats 1" and then "restart" and then the fake lag and BAM. fake lag.

I tried that & it doesn't work for tfc dedicated servers. It just keeps saying "server must enable cheats to activate fakelag" but it is enabled. I tried a few times, nothing.

BRB lemme test that out. I assure you I've had fakelag work in steam before.
What I tried: Before doing New Game, I typed in SV_Cheats 1 in console. I started new game... I typed fakelag 50. My ping time jumped to 100 and if I increased it, my movements became glitchier and occasionally teleporting. In that game, I typed in console SV_Cheats 1, then Restart My ping time disappeared, and I typed fakelag 50, only to get the SV_Cheats must be enabled. In the SAME GAME still, I typed in console SV_Cheats 1, then Restart. I then tried to use Fakelag again, and it worked. Wait, wait... TFC dedicated servers? This is a counterstrike bot forum. TFC enables and disables A TON of cvars. Additionally, if its a dedicated server, you will have to rcon in if you are enabling via console. You will have to rcon sv_cheats 1, then rcon restart. Even then, TFC may disable fakelag, ESPECCIALLY on a dedicated. What is the point in creating fakelag on a dedicated server when there is real lag? |

There is no real lag for bots. & the topic had nothing to do with any bot in particular, just a command. & I don't need to rcon in as I have the server on my machine. sv_cheats was enabled & it still tells me "server must enable cheats to activate fakelag" Maybe it's a listenserver only thing since you're doing it by making a NEW game & also while in game.

You can do it either way, in game or before making a new game. I doubt dedicated servers would allow it because cheats is always disabled on one.

I enabled cheats as I said before but it doesn't work on a ded server.

I've never known a dedicated server to be able to set sv_cheats 1, its always ignored. Even in listenservers, if sv_cheats 1 is on, god, noclip, etc dont work. I believe it was disabled in 1.6 to prevent admins from abusing it? Not that it matters, AMXmod plugins can enable it.

Even then, can a client use God? Or Fakelag? Or Noclip?
Why, if your going to turn on sv_cheats use a listenserver, otherwise your opening up your dedicated server to people that could use the cheats. |

This isn't about whether or not the clients can use the fakelag but if we can set the bots that way. I'm not worried about cheaters on my server as I use VAC, HLG & CSBLD for the cs server & VAC & HLG for the tfc server.

Oh, you want bots to have fake lag?
Well, for one, VAC and other cheat detection wont stop people from using God/Noclip inside your server. That means that if they check for sv_cheats upon joining, they could start killing everybody else and there is nothing VAC can do about it. Your server would have cheats enabled and VAC only catches dll/exe interface programs which hook onto the client and cause superficial effects. And even then, VAC fails to get many hacks which alter OpenGL and/or DirectDraw coding in order to force objects rendered to translucent, providing a wallhack without ever editing the half life code or applying hacks to it. Second, all bots have a preset reaction time you can edit in their ini files. If you get the personality manager, you can create your own bots with unique reaction times. Third, realbot is not currently a useful implementation to provide competition on a small server. The bots detection code, audial and visual, is lackluster at best. The current WIP completely fails to find unlayed and layed bombs, detect that due to elevation change they cannot reach an objective (bots trying to jump up onto the bridge in Aztec from the water), and other problems. Right now, I'd write off bots for use on dedicated servers. The next WIP should be useful competition... as is you can find a useful spot to camp at and kill half the team. Heck, even when an ally is killed right next to one of the bots, they ignore it and keep their knife out. I've literally managed to sneak up and knife one to death. |
