hey PM,

now that you're hosted at bots-united and many people will join (I am sure :) ),
I'll be the first to ask what has changed since the last (playable) version =)

Well, I remember your very first release when your bots were..erm.. in a VERY early stage :D Then you released a MUCH better version with many improvements (I like bots I can play all maps with ).
Over the months you got much better at programming I think and you got quite a reputation at botman's ;)

So, I hope you were able to at least partially fullfill your goals for your next version of the RACC bot :) What I've read in botmans forum from time to time sounds good so far.

i cant dl the secondary branch racc full or stripped version :( pity cause i wanna c dis navigation

use the primary branch's template #2, it's the same navigation (waypointless). In the template #2, the A* pathfinder is working, but the bots don't use it yet. And the AI is the secondary branch AI (calamitous)... you'll be warned ;)

else wait and see :)

when opening the template #2 exe theres a windows error saying:

...\racc-template-2.exe not a valid win32 application :|

its proly not dl'ing properly cause i only get a size of 21kb, i've bin re-dl'ing the last 2 days. 8o

might b my end of the line but dont know. btw i have windows xp if this matters

oh and just so u know, problem for the secondary branch is "http 404 not found" :D

Right, looks like it has not been correctly uploaded...

... I must really change my FTP software, it's not the first time this happens ! >:(

I'm re-uploading it. It does 4 megabytes, and I'm behind a modem so it may take some time. Be patient :)

sorry sorry, me again.

i got it now, set it up for metamod but wen i set up a lan game i get a message saying something like:

inilogfile(): unable to open log file ("racc/release/message.log") :'(

the file is present, full 'o text (dont know if its meant to cause i havent started a game yet). is there something i haven't done? ???:(



also i found patch exe in 'install/release' folder. wats this for?

well how did you install it ?

It is not a metamod plugin, you have to put an entry in the liblist.gam, like this :

gamedll "../racc/release/your_mod/release/racc.dll"

the "messages.log" file is a file I use to send debug messages that help me a lot during the development of the bot. You can safely delete it, as it should be created each time you run the bot.

The "patch.exe" tool is supposed to be a tool to patch the liblist.gam automatically, but I wrote that in a hurry and I never tested if it really works. Look at the source code for details (the .c file) there must be commentings that tell how to use it.

Sorry english guys but i will explain my case in french :)

J'ai télécharger racc-template-2.exe et réussi a test le tout sur counter-strike 1.5 pas retail (counter-strike étant un mod de half-life)

Je n'ai pas utiliser ton .bat pour l'installer car il ne fonctionne pas, alors je te dit la démarche que j'ai fait pour tester tes bots.

J'ai decompresser ton exe dans le repertoire de half-life (half-life/racc)
et pour tester dans conter-strike jai du faire un copie du de ce repertoire et son contenue (racc) dans le repertoire de counter-strike (half-life/cstrike)
jai ensuite editer le fichier liblist.gam et changer la valeur de gamedll par
gamedll "racc/release/cstrike/release/racc.dll"

a noter que ce config load le dll dans le repertoire de counter-strike et trouve le fichier log dans celui de half-life

j'en suis donc venus a la conclusion que tu developpe tes bot avec counter-strike retail version (je pense)

Bien sur lors du test j'ai remarque des petite problème, comme l'utilisation de fichier wav propre a counter-strike introuvable (puisque qu'il cherche les fichier dans le repertoire de half-life)

j'ai remarquer aussi que les bot ex: 5 sur 10 sont actif et seulement a la première round après cela je doit faire un changelevel pour que les bot bouge, encore seulement pour la première round.

Je te dit simplement ceci paceque je croix que tes bot sont vraiment bien
et je veux vraiment que tu trouve facilement les bug ou problème....

je suis moi même un programeur (je gagne ma vie avec sa) et si je peux te rendre service, cela me feras très plaisir ;)

Warlock, l'IA dans la template est calamiteuse, j'espère que tu es au courant... la template est juste un outil de travail pour les programmeurs, ce n'est pas vraiment un bot super jouable. Dans la version que j'utilise, l'IA est beaucoup plus avancée. A mon avis tu auras plus de fun à essayer un autre bot (realbot, ivpbot, etc) en attendant que les RACC sortent en release... Cela dit, si tu veux programmer ton propre bot à partir du code source de la template, pas de problème, au contraire, c'est fait pour ça ;)
P.S. La prochaine fois essaye de parler en anglais STP.
