* well people dont seem to be reading my topic - maybe becuase of the name i gave it - but everyone that does get it to work say thank you so much Juan - so i made a new topic to help everyone out.

- if you go thru the steps then i promise it will work!!!

Well i see people say - im a noob help me or i cant get my IVP bot to work

Well at first i couldn't get my ivp to work either - so in the next few steps im going to explain down to the bone what i did to get my IVP bot to work!

Step 1
- Installing Steam
- Next Start Up Steam and clikc "servers" click on a server that has a map that you dont. - like crazytank or aim_aztec ( I download aim_awp )

Step 2
- Quit Steam after pressing esc and disconnecting from the server.
- Download IVP latest Version - if you dont already have it i have this ivpbot1_1_1 (file name of the zip)

- get it here http://ivpbot.bots-united.com/

Step 3
- Open Steam Again - Yes open it again - stop being lazy o_O
Note leave the downloaded zip on the desktop you will need them later.
- Now after you opened steam - click "new game" without setting nothing up clikc go or start - yes leave the map on random it doesnt matter ( i dont know but i think this is where you get some files to play - if you dont got them then the IVP wont work.

Step 4
- open up the zip file and you should see a cstrike folder all you need to do is extract this folder to

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\e-mail@ivp.com\counter-strike\cstrike

folder when you do the cstrike folder should just be in that cstrike folder - now what you do is open up that folder and you should see a folder called ivpbot and a file that says liblist

click on the folder then gold shift and highlight the other now

- for xp click the move selected items
- for other os open up another window and nav to

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\e-mail@ivp.com\counter-strike\cstrike

now move / copy the files over and you should get a box saying - "is it ok to overwrite the file click yes! then go the liblist file right click and hit properties and check the box that says "read-only" then click ok

Step 5
-you can do 2 different things here

1. you can go and see if the game works - it should add about 4 bots to the team you are not on and 3 players to the team you are. ( should do this before 2 )

2. you can edit the files to change how the bots act/how smart they are/what can do

to do this go into the folder called "ivpbot" that you extracted into the cstrike folder open the file - it should say that i doesnt know file it is. click select a program to open the file up in

- pick wordpad and you can change the stuff around - if you skip number 2 - ingame you can change stuff by click the "=" key to open the ivpbot menu.

you should really read the ivp file located

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\juand@medabiliti.com\counter-strike\cstrike\ivpbot

- it really helps to know what the bots can do -

now thats what i did and everything works fine for me - if you need any help with anything else - post it here and i will do my best.

- im running win xp pro
- i run software mode
- latest steam update / 1.6
- latest windows update

I didn't do it that way and mine works fine. I also have amxmod running on the same listenserver. I suspect a dedicated server would be exactly the same. The -dll command is new to 1.6 since 2 days ago. This is 1.1.1 of ivpbot.

add -dll ivpbot\ivpbot.dll

to your target and IF ivpbot is installed in cstrike\ivpbot it will work. No dicking around with the liblist.gam either.

Thanks to ivpbot creator/fixer for a good bot. and the bonus of using all my podbot configs and waypoints just makes it that much better!! wOOt!

The simplest way to do this is..

1) using ivpbot1_1_1.exe open it and let it extract to c:\temp or someplace easy to find.
2)look in c:\temp and you'll see a Half-life folder. In there you'll find a cstrike folder and in there you'll find your ivpbot folder. YEAH!!!! :)
3) cut or copy the ivpbot folder and paste it into/onto
your partition:\Steam\SteamApps\youremail@email\counter-strike\cstrike
4) you should now have a path available called cstrike\ivpbot YEAH!! :D
5) Start steam
6)Select games
7)right click CounterStrike
8 )select properties
9)click "launch options"
10) add the following to the launch options -dll ivpbot\ivpbot.dll
11) click OK and start a game and play with bots.

If you want to start 1.6 from a desktop icon

5a)If you don't have a desktop icon/shortcut for CS1.6, Steam will create one for you. Go Steam - Games - then right click CounterStrike and this time select "create desktop shortcut"
6a) Go to desktop, and open the shortcut's properties page.
add -dll ivpbot\ivpbot.dll
to the target line. It will look like..
yourpartition:\Steam\Steam.exe -applaunch 10 -dll ivpbot\ivpbot.dll
Ok that and away you go... way too easy.

You'll find there's some things you want to change in the ivpbot.cfg file so exit cstrike and edit the .cfg file. BEFORE YOU DO make a copy of it just in case. Actually I just renamed my old podbot.cfg file to ivpbot.cfg and popped it in the cstrike\ivpbot folder to replace the orginal THAT I HAD RENAMED..
I did the same for my podbot names. DON'T Touch the other .cfgs though unless you're 100% sure you know what you're doing.

99% of problems are from not having it installed in the right place. CHECK YOUR PATHS. Use windows explorer with Folders viewed on the left so you can verify the directory structure and folder contents. PowerDesk Pro is the perfect program for this "stuff".

Well you say to open up the zip folder and inside is cstrike folder...but inside mine is only a .dll file...i tried re downloading it but stil only that file.something im missing?

Rubber, you seem to have downloaded the new .dll only and not the full archive/installer.
Go to http://www.ivpbot.tk/ you'll see the downloads link, go there and grab the proper version for your OS.
Once installed replace the ivpbot.dll with the new one you have already got..

I don't know if it's my config or something....but my bots just stay at spawn in de_aztec.???:( ???:(

I don't know how to edit my config...this the problem.

Aztec changed in 1.6 and the old waypoints have them banging their heads against the wall as T's. Look further down the list of threads and you'll see Obi Wan has gractiously fixed this and posted the new waypoint file. Grab the one for Piranesi too as there's changes for it also in 1.6. REPLACE your old waypoints and delete any experience files for those maps eg. de_aztec.pxp



As for minbotskill you do NOT use the braces.
minbotskill 90 is correct.

Wiz.. To be honest I've never seen HL installed to a folder the way you have it there. Are you talking 1.5 or 1.6? If it's not working it because your paths are wrong.
How are you trying to start them now and what are the paths to hlds.exe and ivpbot.dll??

Can you please tell us how to install this with a HLDS 1.6 dedicated linux server. PLEASE...No one will freakin answer my other threads. I am running Metamod and AMX (this is a rental top noch server). THANKS VERY MUCH.

TO INSTALL ON DEDICATED SERVER FOR WINDOWS (Should work for linux also)

OK I managed to install IvPBot on my dedicated server with Metamod and all other mods.. (AMX, admin, etc...) However I am still having a problem Adding/Removing bots from console I need help in that. I hear you need to add somthing in the CVARS but I don't know what to add.

Anyway this is what I did:

1) Back up your liblist.gam file, just incase if the installer decides to edits it. We don't want this

2) In most cases, the Installer does NOT install the IvPBot files in the correct directory, so you will have to manually find and copy the ivpbot Folder to "C:\HLServer\cstrike\" folder

3) Do NOT edit your liblist.gam file. (Make sure the installer doesn't edit it either)

4) Go to your METAMOD folder. (cstrike\addons\metamod) and create a new file called config.ini if its not there already. (Leave Plugins.ini the way it is) (To make a new file just create a new TXT file and rename it to config.ini)

5) Open the config.ini file and add the line: gamedll ivpbot/ivpbot.dll

6) Save and Restart Server.

7) Done! You should see 7 bots playing.

Now my question is.. How do you Add/Remove or even see the menu for the bots? Help me out on that.

There won't be a menu, that's for clients. You will have to use the console commands.. They're listed in the docs. something like pb addbot. Or remotely by.. rcon pb addbot etc. It's in the docs.

I figured out that I had to type ivp instead of pb
And I had to use the rcon command

eg, rcon ivp addbot

This was not in a manual by the way. I found out on the readme section of the ivp's website. Now I have to work on waypoints

Instead of fiddling with a dead bot, wouldn't you guys be interested in giving a try to another one ?

IvPBot is not developed anymore and his author disappeared for months. Same for E[POD]bot. These two won't last long here. There are much better bots available already. Already tried YaPB, RealBot or POD-Bot 2.6mm ? This last one has improved a whole lot since POD-bot, you definitely want to give it a try.

HEHEHE!!:D I can't help it if I do things the easy way.
As for the name/chat, you might want to explore the IVPBot directory and look in the files with a text editor IF they have an interesting name. Get in the habit of doing this with everything you install on your computer.

And ya.. PM is right.. it looks like this bot will die.
I have PB2.6mm installed too.. but for some reason (which escapes me atm) 9_9 I went back to IVPBot.

Hold on Pierre... You're saying that these bots suck and there are better ones? What do you recommend? I'll serf around for YaPB, RealBot, and POD-Bot 2.6mm, and test them out. But if there are better ones then those, give out the program name and link to where I can download it. =)

With CZ owners getting a crack at the beta of CS source, I think it's a pretty good deal especially when you add in Deleted Scenes and the cool CZ multiplayer.

I installed this bot "ivp" and everthing works fine exept one thing, bots join the game as spectators!. The menu for bots works. What should i do to make them fight?

Iv done everything that your have told us to do on your post. When i create my own game and see the bots start to fill in to spec. I hit = and try to send them to T or CT. And they just dont wanna go.... Iv tried many different things. But still, i cant get them to move. Any pointers?
