POD-Bot causes 1.6 to close
 

Hi, I'm very new to this MetaMod stuff, only having the basic AMX abuse under my sleeve.

My MetaMod plugins.ini currently looks like this:

I'm running windows. (obv)

However, when I run CS 1.6 and open a LAN server (Me and my clan play via hamachi so we always do it this way) and type in "Meta List" to see if its running, CS proceeds to shut down on me. Any ideas why? It works fine if i put the ; in fromt of podbots DLL adress, but of course that stops it working. Is it clashing with AMX's things?

If You are using AMX 2006.x version You shouldn't have all its modules listed in metamod's plugins.ini. If You are using any older version of AMX - everything may happen. You can use the All-In-One package which includes AMX X 1.76d, pb mm V3B18c and metamod 1.19 - it contains everything You need. AMX X is a similar project to AMX (they both have the same origin), but AMX X is still supported and developped - AMX is not.
The installation of All-In-One is easy - You need to download the zip file, then uznip all the crap into the main "cstrike" (or "czero" - depanding on the mod You are playing) folder - let overwrite all files. This combination is tested and it doesn't crash (excpet You want to use it under old CS1.5 - then You need to make more effort to get it working).

Hi,

I just downloaded all_in_one_2_8f.zip, unzipped it according to the instructions on the website - yet CS crashes when I try to start a new server. I'm using CS 1.6 with Steam.

Any ideas?

If You are installing the bots first time on Your PC and You can see some message like "Couldn't find DLL API..." that means You just need to reinstall steam and install All-In-One again. Usually the second time everything is working (if You are really doing everything right).

I've reinstalled Steam and All-in-One several times now, but it still crashes once I try to start a new game. No error message, no nothing. It just quits CS.

Post Your liblist.gam from the main cstrike folder. Post Your plugins.ini from cstrike\addons\metamod folder.

You are using Windows or linux based PC?
Try to disable for test CSDM included in All-In-One package. To do it You need to go to cstrike\addons\amxmodx\configs folder and find the file called plugins-csdm.ini, then rename it to disabled-csdm.ini. Then start the server again.

I'm using Windows. I'll give it a shot soon and let you know how it goes.

That still didn't work. It still just closes after trying to start a new game.

Go to addons\metamod\plugins.ini and disable by a semicolon every plugin loaded from there (includiong also podbot mm). Save it then start the game and check if it still closes Your CS. If no - write in the console:
meta version
and post here the output.
If even in that case (if everything is disabled) You are still having troubles with loading the game - it's not related to podbot mm.

I got the same problem. At first, I thought that this is all because I'm running CS 1.6 on Vista, but when I uninstolled all_in_one_2_8g pack it work.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Preimum, but yet the bots are running just fine.

Maybe you are trying to load a map that is not compatible with the bots.

None of that works, so I think I'll just have to try some other bots.

I tried all of the standard maps, such as assault, dust, aztec atc. but the result is the same. Game starts, but fails at the time round begin.

I'm running Vista Business.

hmmm....
The only real difference I see between our versions is the File Encryption System.

Maybe try reinstalling the bots by extracting into the cstrike folder.
You can probably delete the entire Counter-strike folder to start a fresh copy.

One thing has to be clear. If You are installing all-in-one package that's right - You have to unzip everything into the main cstrike (or czero) folder (depanding of the mod You are playing). If You are installing the fullpack (wiithout amxx and without metamod included into the package) You have to install everything into the cstrike\addons (czero\addons ) folder.

Are You using CS1.6 steam based or it's CS 1.6 non-steam version?

No - non-steam is not supported.
Go to cstrike\addons\metamod\plugins.ini file and disable by a semicolon the call fo amxmodx, I mean this way:
;win32 addons/amxmodx/dlls/amxmodx_mm.dll
then start a game and tell me if You can create it or not. If no - disable also podbot mm (but leave metamod working).

I create it, but when I chose a team, it sudenly stops working and windows gives following message:
Half-Life Launcher has stopped working.
I tried to disable podbots, with anabled amcmodx and the game works good. That's why I came to decision that this is podbots, that couse game to close.

I used the All In One package, unzipped it to my cstrike folder and I have exactly the same problem as everyone else.

I load up Counter Strike 1.6 (steam based), and then I start a New Game. The thing just crashes after that.

I will try using the .dll you just posted. If it doesn't work, I'll report back here.

EDIT: Nope, it doesn't work at all. Still the same problem.
