Now Playing With YaPB v2
 
Ok, I'm not sure if YaPB was design this way. I have a feeling it was. I've been helping so much on YaPB. I've put a lot of my time into making this one of the best. I know I may have not done much. But.... the bots.... are HARD! Even on "YaPB Skill Level" - Stupid (0-20), it's like I can't get a shot off. I was playing with my brother tonight. This bot must have knew, my brother was waiting at the corner. My brother didn't see him coming in front of him, and the bot killed him. I think the bots can shoot thur corner walls. Sorry to complain, but I love helping out with YaPB. It's the only decent/working bot program for Counter-Strike 1: Anthology. :)

The scripts that are used (I am guessing) were based off of headshot scripts and that will make bots harder.

YaPB is alot harder tha podbot mm no doubt about that.
The old PodBot versions are harder than new versions.

Any body can shoot through corner walls, or most walls at that.

The skill level specified in the cfg should tell the bot to be noob or professional, but the codings could have also been altered in the new beta versions.

I'm not using the beta version, so most of the stuff I just said, are guesses.

Thanks for the reply Ancient. Would be take a lot of time to alter YaPB to make it more noob-friendly? I would hate to quit using YaPB, after all the time I've been helping. I've tried the other bot programs on Bots United, most seem to not work. I'm using Counter-Strike 1: Anthology. YaPB has all the options I need. I'm able to pick the difficuly of the bots.

@RR99i: hey! All configureable. Change/Add next commands in/to the yapb.cfg...

If bots will be too easy, try setting, yb_turnemethod back to 3, and you will get something like official csbot difficulty level 2. :)

I thought the aim stuff was from aimbots, but I guess it was from bot-aim :P

You shouldn't quit helping Streloment, that would be uncool. :D Help as much as you can. It's appreciated by the developers.

Will there be anyway to be able, in the future, to change the options from YaPB Menu? I hate messing with options in a file. But I was able to change the settings like you told me. I was afraid that YaPB was based on a headshot script.

UPDATE! - Everything seems to be working great. I know that yb_quota = How Many Bots Start With Game. It was 9, but I changed it to 10. LOL, I must be pretty smart to know what yb_quota means. Hell, I don't even know what quota means! hehe

Yes i have plans adding configuration stuff to menu...

The aiming stuff without hardcore mode uses fixed offset to player heads (view_ofs.z), that is 17, in hard core mode, bots adding to this value some caluclated from distance and emotions stuff. So they aim at head more accuracy. I get this idea from official csbot while playing with difficulty 3, so depending on csbot, yapb is not cheating + yapb allow to disable this stuff. Also i hardcore mode bots shooting through walls a littile bit better. If hardcore mode is off, bot's shouldn't be harder than original PODBot 2.5. (on high settings)

That's great your online. I just got done playing with YaPB somemore. It's a lot of fun, but the bots seem like they can't aim good. But when you stop moving for about a second, they'll kill you. Here's what's in my YaPB.cfg....

I've been playing this one created map I like, de_predator. I've noticed that when the terrorist plant the bomb at the Fuel Depot. They usually plant it on the highest box. The only way to get to it, is to jump off a lower box. When the bomb is planted, the CT know where the bomb is. But when they get on the box to be able to jump, to get to the bomb. They just walk off and continue again, and again. I think we may need to make a YaPB waypoint for that map. The bots are very good, but the CT's have trouble with Fuel Depot.

Ok, i've check out problem with aiming... Config looks good. Problem you described also occurs in de_dust2 :). This probem occurs, because when bots search sphere for entites they can pickup, and when they able todo so, they go to it's origin immideately :) I'll fix this (i hope) :)

Yes, I'm back. Like we were talking about, the de_predator problem. Also, I thought this idea up. Can YaPB make the bots keep a balanced game? We could try adding that. Because when my brother and I play, the teams usually get uneven. I use a even number of max. players for the game.

I don't think it's you, it's me, hehe. It's sometimes hard for people to understand me.

That's say I have a max. player 16 game. My brother and I join, after a few bots join. We both join the Counter-Terrorist. I look at the stats of player. There is 7 Terrorists and 8 Counter-Terrorist. Could YaPB be programmed to keep the teams even?

I don't know if any other YaPB users will like the addition. But for Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and CS: Source. The next round, if the teams aren't even numbered. It will automatically even the teams. There's two things I would really like to see done with YaPB.

1. Which you pointed out. Make the bots aim/move better. With the yb_turnmethod 2.

2. Make YaPB automatically make teams even, when uneven, example: ( Terrorist have 7, Counter-Terrorist have 8 ) on a 16 player game.

2. You can just add one bot more, no ? (yb add_ct, yb add_t)...

Yes, turnmethod 3 maybe better to use. About adding another bot, I could try that. I'm just use to have the bots even the teams for me from Condition Zero and Source. When I really get into a game. I have to stop and add another one. I'm not very good, when playing in the dark, lol, or even having to look down at the keyboard. To press the right numbers to add another one.

I'm not sure if YaPB or any other bots, can automatically even teams.

Wait, I said that wrong. The teams would be like this: Counter-Terrorist 9 (which me and my brother join), and Terrorist 7. The game has a max. player of 16.

Hey, this can done by CS itself, mp_autoteambalance 1! Add it to you listenserver.cfg, on next round (if teams are uneven) teams will be balanced.

Your right. I thought either making a listenserver.cfg, or extracting the one in Counter-Strike GCF cache with GCFScape. I put mp_autoteambalance 1 in YaPB's Config file. It's working! But I'm not sure if it works with me spectating. Could making a listenserver.cfg, keeping the one in CS Steam cache cause a problem? What I mean is, have one in my Counter-Strike folder (C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\rr99i\counter-strike\cstrike), and the one in CS gcf cache. But, only put mp_autoteambalance 1 in my CS folder.

I hope this makes sense.

Sorry, i'm not on Steam, so can't help you with this. If it worked from yapb.cfg, it worked everytime. So all is OK :)

I haven't made you work too hard man, have I? Atleast I keep the YaPB board alive! Hehe Everything is working great man. I can spectate and the teams will get even next round. Before: 6 Terrorist, 8 Counter-Terrorist ... after: 7 Terrorist, 7 Counter-Terrorist.

I don't have ICQ. But I do have AOL, MSN, and Yahoo Messengers. I've never tried to use ICQ.

About the Steam cache question. Steam will first try to find the needed files out of the cache and if didn't found it will look for the ones from the cache. So you will not have any problems with your .cfg file. :)

It's really weird. I thought I saw a listenserver.cfg before in my cstrike folder. Steam must be acting up. But it could be that Counter-Strike 1: Anthology only installs the cache. Do however have a config.cfg file in the folder.
