FritzBot test-server launched (RtcW)

The HP Matches server is currently running a Fritzbot 0.54 RtcW-Server. At the moment it is setup to run the tank-map only. There are 27 bots running around at this 64-slots server. The ip-adress is 70.84.129.101:27964.
It is for testing-purposes only, so if it is too buggy, the mod will be removed again a.s.a.p.

We |ToaK|'s and some HP-members are testing the bots and the server-reliability while running this mod.
We are thrilled by the bots-performances, but within an hour or two, some of us were completely ignored by the enemy-bots. 0_o
Even after a match-reset, individual human player seem to be invisible for the enemy bots. Is this a familiar bug with fritzbot 0.54, or is it related to the tank-map?

Hi Hans :p

Make sure private clients is set to 0. It's a known bug atm; and there is some speculation that it might not be the only thing that causes this.

Reconnecting after a /quit sometimes helps :/

John: can you please try this patch on your server? I think I may have found and fixed the issue that was causing this bug.

I'd greatly appreciate hearing from you to find out if this fix works.

Just extract the file inside this .zip into your "FritzBot" folder, overwriting the .dll thats in there right now.

Cheers!

Re: FritzBot test-server launched (RtcW)

Thanks for replying that quick, guys..:)

We'll put the fix on the server, and i'll let you know what our findings are.
I have to wait for our dear friend dr. No from HP who has the admin-rights for this server to realize the alterations and update.

Thanks to his awesome cooperation, we are able to running this full-scale test. If the outcome is satisfactory, than i'll investigate the possibilities to create a permanent Fritzbot 24/7 server (RtcW only, sorry ET-guys and gals).

Hans

p.s. Some of our playtesters are complaining that the bots seem to have aimbots. Don't be afraid, i didn't give away the fact that you just cloned Crapshoot. ;)

Re: FritzBot test-server launched (RtcW)

Heh - try setting the bots to "EASY" aim skill ("bot_aimskill 1) - its the easiest.

BTW: is HP Happy Penguin?

Re: FritzBot test-server launched (RtcW)

Lol no, Maleficus. I like the settings as they are..;)

B.t.w. we tested your dll on a dutch server, and the 1st impression is a good one. It might work.. Thanks a lot for your quick solution :D
And thanks Crapshoot for your tip about private clients set to 0. ;)

Hans

p.s. HP is indeed a happy penguin server, it is the one which is normally reserved for matches...

I'm pretty sure he modeled bot_skill 1 and aimskill 1 after my abilities tbh :P

Kewl - I was a big fan of the Depot HP server way back in the day! :D

Good to hear its working so far - just let me know if any problems arise. ET has this bug too, and if this fixes it, I can fix the bug permanently in both games.

Cheers!

Well a few of us had a little reunion yesterday on the map Tank. Had a good few laughs and some exciting matches. The bots kept responding good on human actions, and the server was more stable than before your update and suggestions.

I have the impression that our little initiative to setup 2 test-servers for Fritzbot, 1 in the USA and 1 in Europe have already a positive impact on our shrinking RtcW community.

In this short time we had already many (human) visitors who couldn't believe they were actually mainly playing with bots..:D

But we have to see if the effect is a temporary one, or if it is really a new era for RtcW. My hopes are for the new era...;)

But with your support i'm convinced we have a good chance to maintain a large group of hardcore RtcW-players reliving the old maps, and discovering some new ones.

And as already written in your guestbook, you did a awesome job with Fritzbot guys!

Awesome!

I'm glad the patch fixed this annoying issue forever, and its good to hear that theres a dedicated RTCW community out there.

Even tho I'm on 56k, I'll have to jump on the server and watch ppl's reactions when they realize they're playing a bot. :P

Cheers!

Yes, it's pretty funny to see their reaction if they realize they're playing with bots..:D

Testing on the HP-Matches server has been halted due to stability issues.

I included a log file from the dedicated server, so you can see for yourself how unstable it currently is.

I do hope there is a solid solution to settle the problems. If that wouldn't be possible, than it's the end of the test-phase and the end of a 24/7 RtcW FritzBot-server..:(

Re: FritzBot test-server launched (RtcW)

Is this the same server thats been running the last 4-5 days without issue, or a different one?

Basically, my question would be how long has it been running?

Also - what is the FireDaemon thats constantly turning itself off and on? I've never heard of it before.

I'll take a look at the code from my end.

Re: FritzBot test-server launched (RtcW)

It's running for 6 days now.

There were problems from day 1, but they seem to get worse as you can see in the log. The slot limit has already been set from 64 to 32. The private clients are on 0 as been advised.

The server has been reset completely several times already.

Hans

p.s. Maybe we could get in contact on a more direct way, like via Xfire (antonius007) or via MSN (sven.hassel@hccnet.nl). The forum is a bit circumlocutory.

Re: FritzBot test-server launched (RtcW)

FireDaemon is a services/process-handler (And wolf.mp is been seen as a service).
It's been needed because several several game-servers are running on that server.

Hans

p.s. thanks for you're looking after it...:)

Don't have Xfire or MSN. Guess I'm behind the times......:wheelchair:
