I am looking for Bots replacement for DOD:S. Default bots are two stupid. Is there any good Bots for DOD:S

Im off to look.

Oh there is ingame bots but they didnt seem anywhere near half ready.
And I couldnt add more than 1 properly but then i guess I dont know the proper commands.

As for third party bots, i dont think any are around yet :(

The bot support in the Source engine is still very limited, which prevents us to work on efficient source bots (HL2DM, CS:S, DOD:S). We've been complaining about this to Valve for ages, but they seem to ignore us superbly so far >:(

Heyyo,

*sighs* I know, it's a letdown... what I wonder, is how does the CS:S bot change weapons, does it still use the old fashioned method or this retarded new one that crashes the game but they somehow got it working fine with CS:S???

CS:S bots were built into the mod. What we bot authors have been trying to get from valve is the proper access via server plugins to make bots for any mod. Of course we can make bots for new mods, but I believe many bot writers would prefer to support some of the popular mods like CS:S, DOD:S, etc...

i also looking for any bot possibility on dod:source but right now i didn't find any bot sytem...so there is no bot working on DoD:Source right now?

i have mani admin plugin and it seems that there is a "bot" command on it, but bot are like zombi..walking on the map but do nothing else (no attack or defence) ...

No that is not part of mani. The bot command is in DoD:Source. And they arent available in the start game which must mean either A) they were carried over from HL2/CSS and B) are wip, thats why there are cmds for them adn variables that you can change. Oh and please read the thread, the guys have already stated why there is no bot, but if you really want someone to spell it out for you : There is no bot because valve wont aloow access to specific areas of the source engine that are neccessary to allow a bot to run on source.

I read somewhere that there are DOD:S bots, they will spawn but not do anything else. It's not a functional bot.

It's mentioned on the Steam forums, in the sticky.

On Ancient's server I tried the built-in bots of DoD:S. However players were turned off by these, so I tried FakeClients (MM:S plugin) and it did the trick - server gets noticed and fills up.

I also tried FakeFull for TFC, but in this case people seemed to prefer FoxBots.

Try this package.

It's Cheeseh's RCBots put in a installer package for dods with a menu to control them.

They are for HLDM 2 but are a little better than just typing "bot" in the console... never the less, they are still very simple.

They are built for HL2DM, what they do have in features for dod:s is the ability to spawn an AXIS bot and follow some simple waypoints.

This is better than just typing "bot" in the console and having 3 allied bots spawn on some maps, (some only spawn 1).

They don't follow the same nav file types as Counter-Strike bots more like the same as SturmBot... waypoint poles connected to pathways.

They don't have class selection and they don't fire at other bots or human players. They also struggle when making their way out of most of the dod:s map spawn areas.

Some of the "orange map" series of maps have a simple layout and you can waypoint enough to get them out and run around capping flags, but there are many maps they just can't deal with... in fact about 95% of maps made... they won't even get out of spawn :)

This is of course expected as the author, Cheeseh, never intended these for dod:s.

The only reason for putting a pack together for the bots was the fact that you can spawn a axis rifleman. It is good for mappers and modelers to grab a bot and check stuff.

The pack has one "orange" map and is a bit of fun... the bots just race around and you get in some fire practice.... sometimes they can even cap out.

I heard that there were some functional bots called ShrikeBot or whatever, but the bots could only be in the Rifle Class. But, I would play that if someone told me where to download it.

P.S. But I also heard that it wasn't released because it could only use one class. But thats better than standing still, and not doing anything.

I'm a new user of this fantastic forum! :-P
About HurricanBots: i've used it in my DoD:S but it doesn't works perfectly like in Half Life 2 Deathmatch... for example: they don't reload weapons ('cause they continue to fire but the container is empty) and join only rifleman, in many maps don't work, they walk around the spawn-points...
I just tried also RCBot 2 for DoD:S but doesn't work... the installation process complete succesfully but if i start a game there isn't the modified-join-menu and from console there aren't the "rcbot..." commands.

Well, I'm not sure RCBot 2, is compatable with DOD:S.
I'm not sure about Hurricane bot, since I haven't read on it for several months.

So far, I don't know of a bot that works properly in Source games, maybe if we wait a bit longer, some code will magicly appear before us.

Oh Hurricane Bots works perfectly on Half Life 2 Deathmatch! They also works a bit on DoD:S but with problems listed up...:bored:

I know, Dr. Evil has omni bot (I think) working on TF2, but I suppose if we wait a bit longer, the rest of the bot devs can use his bot for as examples.

I really like how RCBot is comaptable with many mods, not just one; like YaPB and Podbot.

I didn't know Hurricane bot got so far, last time I checked, was in Feburary and he wrote that he was busy with life. ;)

The April version, the 1.1.3 works great! The next release maybe will work also with the recent version of DoD:S, that included in the Orange Box!

I set-up a lan dedicated DODS server to play on with my kids (Since language isn't really that nice on most servers) and I want to have bots. I also have a dedicated CSS server and the bots are great on it. I set-up the DODS server assuming the bots would be there and what do you know NO BOTS. I have spent half the day on steam forums and on Google trying to find bots for DODS... Does anyone know of any bots that will work on DODS??????? Your best bet for bots on DODS? Rcbot2.. maybe the only active bot developpment on Source Engine due to horrible third party bot support by valve. :(
