It's turning out that with all the work I have to do and all the parties I have to attend I have so little time to maintain the HPB_bot (update site, fix bugs, etc.) that I wish someone else would take the job.

So if you want to apply, post here :)

I've played the HPB_bot in TFC before the waypoint system was created. And I used to be a HPB_bot Waypointer(I still am when it comes to HLDM and DMC Maps). I'm a BIG, BIG fan of the HPB_bot. And I would hate to see it just fade away. =)
The HPB_bot is what made Bot Multiplayer Gaming in HL possiable. ;)

I would help to maintain the bot, IF I knew how to mess with the source code.:(

Ah yes! Good times, good times. The time when everyone was still figuring out how to get CS bots to spawn into the game properly, then we figured that one out and PODbot came along and took all the attention away from the other CS bots. ;)

i used to waypoint for a site called waypoint wherehouse for op4, and tfc hpb bot waypoints. That was the only bot i used. I would also hate to see it just fade away...

Ah yes those where the days.
Can't believe thats already 5 or 6 years ago i uploaded my waypoints there.
The waypoint warehouse forums are still on ezboard....

Must have been de_moonbase for podbot. (I only did hpb and podbot wpts)

Well i'd love to but i think i'll just neglect it.
Got to much stuff at hand as it is.

But at the other hand maybe just let the HPB for what it is.
Lock it. So it will be only for archiving and learning purposes.

I'd have to argue (hi btw :D), that all good things must come to an end. The work done on HPB_Bot was amazing, introducing bots into the HL engine was no easy task, making them WORK was even harder.

These days though, bigger and better bots seem to be coming round the corner based on HPB, and from what i've seen, there isn't really any other way to improve them and bring them back to the 'GodLike' status they once were. Maintaining the bot from this point would be trying to give someone whos been dead for about a year CPR (No offense intended). HPB has become one of the best educational resources around especially for AI and bot developers alike, but imho, the sunlight has been stolen, and theres not much short of a miracle that will bring it back ;)

man hpb was my #1 tfc and oppoforce ctf bot for many years. i would cry to see it die :(

Any open source project needs a maintainer, though...
