How did you become part of BU?
A very long story...
Back in CS 1.5 i was being a regular nub and pubbing because I didn't know any better. One day I came upon a server that was called Wahabbi Cultural Society or something close to that. I played in it all the time. One day I decided to visit the website of the server owners. Which was the [MEAN][MF]Clan. There I learned about the MEAN MOD and all that crap. MEAN at the time was running podbot for 1.5. Then CS 1.6 came out and podbot was dead. And boy that pissed me off. I dropped CS for awhile, then when I went back to MEAN some of their forums has moved, here. Thats when I found out about the great world of BU how about you |
Re: How did you become part of BU?
I was looking for the plugin that made blood shoot sky high whenever someone killed someone with a headshot. I came upon PMB's site where google found a "bleeding" plugin. It wasn't what I looked for but it did increase the blood from a headshot :). After a week or so I went back to PMB's site and looked at all the plugins there but none of them seemed to interest me. I started reading the news on his site for whatever reason and read some stuff about bots-united and came here to check it out. It didn't interest me either cept the new version of the bleeding plugin that added brains :). I registered to post then left for about 2 months and came back (when (3)colors made an event about him going to study C++ for 24 hours... I think he got banned soon after this) and saw PMB was working on a cleansed version of PB.

Re: How did you become part of BU?
I found this site when I'm checking botman's forum
|
Re: How did you become part of BU?
hm, I guess somewhen nova and me were talking about the idea of such a site, but somehow we didnt think it was realistic. then I talked about this with stefan over irc I suppose, and pmb thought it might be a good idea too ... so initially it was nova how set up the forums and sent us the 'secret' URL to the forums, so we could register before everyone else :P

Re: How did you become part of BU?
as a long term fan of stefan and RB i couldnt resist follow my master here..
|
Re: How did you become part of BU?
I used Realbot and Joebot a lot, and one day while visiting the realbot page, Stefan mentioned there was talks in progress for bringing about a place for bot coders.
So, I checked up on the news of BU every now and again until the place went live. :D |
Re: How did you become part of BU?
what can i say? On day 7th i took a break ;) :P

Re: How did you become part of BU?
Well I was a big fen of [POD]bot 2.5. But after this bot have dead I try to find another. And with google I find the web site of E[POD]bot and start to playing with it. On the nav bar of the site I find a link that bring me here in the forums. After that I register. And so LightNinja stop his work on E[POD]bot and I get to work on it. :)

Re: How did you become part of BU?
Basicly i got into the bot scene via botmans site. It all started there.
|
Re: How did you become part of BU?
Yes. Then when I was a member of the nukebox Stefan said he was going to make a bot. Hah!
|
Re: How did you become part of BU?
I was lured in with the promise of food.
Alternatively, I've been a CS player since it went retail, and have always been a bot player since I learned about them. Somehow, I found BU. I'd guess that I probably found it from Nuke or Botman's site, can't remember at all. Then I continually checked this site for what seemed like forever until they fainally got this forum up. Right now I don't even use any bots, I just come to the offtopic forums whenever I have time to kill. |
Re: How did you become part of BU?
I wanted to use multiple bots at the same time, and this gave me so many problems that I decided to whine a little about it here... always a good way to introduce oneself :D
But this place is kinda sticky... |
Re: How did you become part of BU?
I had already shrikebot.com and was happily doing my stuff there.
I always checked out botmans forums prior to that and was still visiting the botmans forums. Untill a regular (Drek) on the ShrikeBot forums told me about Bots-United. He was in the UnitedAdmins team and doing the MarineBot PR. SO i thought what the heck it can't hurt to check it out. Still here on this swell forums. :) (I wasen't on nukebox. I heard about it but it didn't appeal to me to register and post there.) |
Re: How did you become part of BU?
I was using PODBot 2.5 with my LAN mates, and since the lack of decent waypoints for some of our favourite maps pissed us off, I decided to have a look at waypointing myself. In the long run, however, the shortcomings of PB (mainly the monotonous pathfinding) got quite annoying. Then one of my friends told me about POXBot. I tried it and loved it. However, it was too unstable to use on a LAN server, so we had to drop it. This pissed me off twice, so I kept checking the POXBot site - which went down quite often and didn't accept registration. Little did I know that it was about to die. But somehow I found the way to the BU forums from there, learnt about PODBot MM, and you all know the rest of the story. 9_9
In fact, BU was the first forum where I registered, posted and contributed on a more or less regular basis. |
Re: How did you become part of BU?
I've been here over a year! what the hell?
|
Re: How did you become part of BU?
Well, I wasn't aware that PODBot was discontinued, so I googled for PODBot 2.6. Eventually, after much searching, I got here. The rest you already know ;)
|
Re: How did you become part of BU?
i followed PMB posts at nuclearbox ( knew since way back when you were a smart fucker ) always monitored the bot stuff... so when soulfather told me that it was a really great forum i just had to sign up right away... i may not post everyday but i DO READ the forum everyday at least once .. which is a hell of alot more than i can say about nbox...

Re: How did you become part of BU?
this thread is like a week old....
every day eh?:P |
Re: How did you become part of BU?
I had to find the link to BU at nukebox or UA forums (one of them for sure). I was looking for the new version of podbot. At beggining I focused only on podbot mm forum, so I even didn't know PMB has been that time already the president of BU. I didn't know that time (3)Colors screwed up all the rules of this forum, too, so I couldn't understand that time why the people here at beginning of my joining BU got me in very nervous way. I got almost banned - yes, I lost the poll for banning, too, but I'm here only thanks T Wrecks. After few months the people decided to make me a moderator for podbot mm forum. The rest You know... :)

Re: How did you become part of BU?
I must have missed all that colours stuff, but then I wasn't here most of last year.
|
Re: How did you become part of BU?
I wasn't aware of the (3)Colors issue until now (I :CTFB:... :D)
|
Re: How did you become part of BU?
wait how did you almost get banned? for what
|
Re: How did you become part of BU?
yes, we are rather bored.
|
Re: How did you become part of BU?
BU - the place where everything is possible ;)
Kwo - almost banned, and now moderator... :D hehe, i did not even know about the banning? When/how/why was that? I probbaly even did have to vote, (doh), but i can't recall atm. |
Re: How did you become part of BU?
the grand KWo bannage history... a BU legend already :D
what happened was that SoUlFaThEr was helping out the folks in the podbot forums then KWo came in with a problem about the bot, and knowing that : 1. SoUlFaThEr is rather messy 2. KWo is meticulous 3. SoUlFaThEr speaks english like a suburbs dude 4. KWo is a bit paranoid happened that SoUlFaThEr went pissed off at KWo for him not understanding what he was saying and KWo went into believing that SoUlFaThEr was insulting him and calling him a smurf (hence his avatar today), actually SoUlFaThEr went so mad that he posted a request to ban KWo, but the case was settled by a well-known BU diplomat who'll recognize himself here without problem ;) btw lol @ bio's reply to thirdeye |

now I understand the smurf deal lol... that is awesome... |
Re: How did you become part of BU?
I forgot about that SF calling me smurf (it was against the rules, too BTW :P ) and I did my avatar because of other thing (the previous one I had it was for that smurf smart aleck)...
And for these who want to read some old "hot" topics with KWo - You may read them here: http://forums.bots-united.com/showthread.php?t=1499 http://forums.bots-united.com/showthread.php?t=1501 [EDIT] I forgot to say - at unitedadmin forum I had some hot topics and hot experienes , too (but without banning procedure - only an unnoficial warning - nowhere registered), and after few months later the same man which warned me - he asked me if I could replace him at ClanMod forum since he will change his position there... :D But I had to refuse him, because I've been already the moderator of podbot mm forum and I had no time to moderate 2 forums. Other reason against was also this - I understood that time CM has been already (unnoficially yet that time) a death project (CM coder didn't answer me to few questions I sent him and he didn't answer at forum for long time to the question other people wrote, too)...If You don't believe me - ask KaszpiR - he was a moderator at ua for long time,. too... :) [/EDIT] |

Re: How did you become part of BU?
Hah! You can say that agian.what a wastrle Auxois. I used to be a staunch supporter, but w/out even causing trouble if you weren't right behind the yankie war machine you weren't a goodie! Even on the topic of the cost of labour in less affluent economies.
I still can't believe I got banned for telling the stuck-up fool he was wrong when he was raving about how easy it was to get, use and pay for heavy digging equiptment in a shot economiy and socienvty. |
Re: How did you become part of BU?

Well - I was explaining already to T Wrecks (in a veeery long pm) the differences between our countries in meaning the therm "friend" and "colleague", so I wouldn't to elaborate it the same here. Basicaly - I have nothing against SF - I could unerstand him - he might get as nagging by me these a lot of posts and pms I sent him when I destroyed his hapiness - podbot 2.5 resurection - by showing by me a lot of bugs and my complaining only and asking him to confirm these bugs I was finding. All of this I can understand, but... Since that time we weren't really working together in the meaning as I was working with sPlOrYgOn nor with T Wrecks, so I can't say if something is working between us correctly now or not (it hasn't been really checked in some loger time). About Pierre - I guess - since that time at this forum we were discussing a lot - and even if we were disagree in some points - I may say the contacts between us are good (IMHO) - I can call him as my colleague (since the "friend" therm in Polish means something more in the contacts between people, but it doesn't mean anything like homosexual partners - to prevent some paranoid associations :D ). |
