hi

i was just wondering... how do i run this bot through a dedicated server? im interested in hosting bots in my own game, but i have no idea how to do it

Hi,
It is very easy :)
After you install E[POD]bot on your CS 1.5 or CS 1.6 just start dedicated server and the bots will auto join in to the server.
If you make dedicated server on CS 1.6 after the server is ready you must wait for 1 minute and after that the bots will join the game.
If you still have trouble just ask :).

for the dedicated server in 1.6 to get the bots, do i have to install it to the dedicated server folder within steam?

ie. C:\Steam\SteamApps\<myemail>\dedicated server\cstrike\EPODbot

i had the original one in my normal counter-strike folder within steam, and i could load games locally, but now that i use the steam dedicated server feature, i cannot get them to work

YES.
After that make a server and the bots will join.
For me this work perfect .:)
You just must wait one or two min. and the bots will join.

Hello. Im am soo confused about bots on a dedicated server. I read the thread VERY carefully but i cannot seem to get the bots in the game. I installed it to the correct directory. I waited about 10 minutes and no bots joined. I would really like if somebody could help me with this problem. When i use bots on a LAN game they work perfect.

Hi,
Well the instalation program of E[POD]bot don't support dedicated server.
You must handly install the bots in :
C:\Steam\SteamApps\<myemail>\dedicated server\cstrike\EPODbot
folder and after that to change the thinks in liblist.gam file to load EPB.dll and all will be ok.
If you still have a problem just ask . ;)

That should be right.

Ok, one more test is after starting your ds, in the ds console try typing: addbot

If it says "unknown command addbot" then it's not installed right somewhere and you should try again. Just do as THE_STORM wrote up above n' try again dude. :)

Oh, remember now, "podmenu" only works for Listen Servers (a server created ingame). For Dedicated Servers you need to use the actual console commands.

O.K. Thank you all very much, i did not try to change the liblist.gam. well I'll try it now and see what happens!!

It still doesnt work. Its a 1.6 server and it has amx modx installed to it, C-D, statsme, HLguard. If ne one of those is a prob. for a bot to join then plz let me noe cuz i have tryed everything >_<

Hmm...
So you have a mods.
Then reinstall all mods (amx ect) and after you install all that then you install E[POD]bot. Change the parameters in liblist.gam to let the game to load EPB.dll. Btw don't put the E[POD]bot folder in you addons folder. E[POD]bot must be installed in cstrike\EPODbot.
In liblist.gam you must change the parameter :
gamedll "addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll"
to
gamedll "EPODbot\EPB.dll".
After you start the server you must wait a minute. If still there is no a bots tape in your dedicated console addbot.

Storm, it turns out he diddn't run the epbconfigurator.. for the next release make sure you run the epb configurator with it already configured. I tried myself to install epb in the right location n' start a server, it crashed each time before the server even started.

Hmm.. MarD even I configurte E[POD]bot before publish again they will not work if don't configurate them. The quetion is why ?
Because after you configurate them with the languarge that you want he put some functions in titles.txt(located in you cstrike dir). If you don't configurate it this functions will not be in the file titles.txt and the menus will not be displayed correctly.

Acually, after i ran the configurator i deleted the -dll addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll When you delete that you can keep all of your plugins but the headshot, killing spree and things like that do not happen on events. Is there tho ne way to keep amxmodx sounds running and still having the -dll addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll and having bots play at your server?!

Hmm, it seemed to fail with amx v0.9.9

Ok, it worked with AMXX v1.0.1.. try that. I was also using Metamod v1.17.2.0 I think.. so the latest MM I could find.

The rcon commands are stuff like:

rcon pb addbot
rcon pb fillserver
rcon pb removebots

For the sounds in AMX 0.9.9. Yes I know the bug in E[POD]bot that don't allow to be played the AMX sounds. But I can't fix it because I don't know from where come this bug :(.

right,i put this in the help please section,think it wa smeant to be here so... hello everyone, this is my first post....i have the same problem as they guy above i think,for 4 days now i have been trying to get bots to work on my dedicated server but i havent been able to...i downloaded epod bot and it works absolutely fine in a LAN game,i had the same problem as the man above when it took me straight back to my desktop,but that is sorted now.....anyway,my point is i have metamod and amx installed on my dedicated server and i cant get the bots to work,i tried to jus tstart a game and wait as suggested ,but nothing happened,then i tried installing the epodbot to my dedicatedserver/cstrike folder and that never worked,finally i tried changing my directory to the one which was suggested but the the server wouldnt even load,i think i am doing something very wrong!!!!

You all look very helpfull in here and i was kind of hoping you may help me out with a (lets call it) 'idiots guide to installing epodbot to your dedicated server' as you kind of lost me above when you started using all linlist terms etc. :S Thanks lot...(if you help that is :P)

Oh man again problem with dedicated server. :P

I start to explain again. :)

So you run the bots in LAN game correct. That's mean that you are install them correct for listen server.
But if you want to use the bots in dedicated server you must install them in your \dedicated server\ dir. If you are install them correrct the E[POD]bot folder must be like that :
SteamApps\user name\dedicated server\cstrike\EPODbot\.
If still doesn't work try to configurate liblist.gam located in
SteamApps\user name\dedicated server\cstrike\liblist.gam

And change:
gamedll "addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll"
to
gamedll "EPODbot\EPB.dll"

After that you can start your server and remember E[POD]bot will automatically load metamod.dll so all your plugins will work fine.

right..heres how it is :P, as you know i had it working on lan,so i obviously did something right hehe,so i uninstalled it from my steam/steamapps/email/counterstrike/cstrike folder and then installed it to my steam/steamapps/email/dedicated server and it went into the cstrike folder automatically, then i started up my server, 8 minutes later still no bots....i closed myt server and then went into the liblist and it already says gamedll 'epodbot\epb.dll' so i asume i dont need to change anything....i set my serve rup agian,12 minutes in now,still no bots....what do you think i have done wrong??

Well, you need to add the bots man. :P

just use the dedicated server console and type this innit:

pb addbot

if it says "unknown command 'pb'" then it isin't installed right, and you need to try again. :(

okedoke guys, 1 last problem,i can play with the bots in my server absolutely fine!!!!!!! they load after about 2 minutes, but the only thing wrong is,i cant seem to addbots whilst in the game.i tpye exactly 'pb addbot' and i tried 'addbot' but nothing works :S any suggestions?

p.s. ther is another thing appeared and when i type bot into console it aoutomatically comes as bottomcolor, hehe,any suggestions for that? its not that much of a big deal any way,i can go into the epodbot.config and change them min/max bots, jsut would be more usefull to have the console commands working :P

After you tape the command for adding bots you must wait again 2 min and the bots will join. Sorry but every command that you use to accses the bots will late with min ot two.

hmmm,well what is the command to add bots? what do i type EXACTLY?? i tried 'pb addbot' and that says pb unrecognised comman,i read somewher you have to say bot before you type a command in ds,so i typed 'bot addbot' and i came out as 'bottomcolor addbot' nothing happend,but it didnt say unrecognised command that time :(

Heyyo,

Hmm, so are you typing these into the dedicated server's console? or on your screen?

btw, for the ingame commands list, all the bot command's aren't recognized by the easy access console commands. Now, for E[POD]bot, you need to type stuff like:

pb addbot
pb kickbot

and so on. The DS bot commands are all listed in the readme's, so read into them. :)

Now, the console probably won't say that bot's are being added n' so on, so check the player list to see if they were added indeed.

If you wanna add bot's n' such from a computer that joined the server, you need to use rcon.

first, for the server, you need to set an rcon password. here's how:

rcon_password "epbrules"

now the password is "epbrules" :)

so for the client computer (the one that joined the server) you should just need to type: rcon_password "epbrules" again so that the client's set on that password, then you just do normal console commands I think, so stuff yet again like:

pb addbot
pb kickbot

if that doesn't work i think you need the rcon prefix, so:

rcon pb addbot
rcon pb kickbot

If these don't work.. well.. err... read the cs manual, it should say how to use rcon. :P

Ok here is the tutorial :

First configurate your dedicated server before start :

Then Click Start Server and wait to load :

After that go to the console tab and tape pb addbot :

Then wait one or two minutes and go to the player tab and there you will see the new bot that has been added :

So you see that is no so hardly. :)

In the same way you can add more bots or control them with the others EPB dedicated server commands.

I think that after this tutorial you will have no more problems.
