@$3.1415rin 28-11-2004 20:46

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

such uptimes should be normal, everything else would be something to worry about ... congrats to the admins that this is the case now !

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

42 days uptime is not that long... my OpenBSD server at home counts its uptime in months.
And bear in mind also that in these 195 users you can take out a half of google spiders and search bots ;)

Yeah my personal win2000 server was up for several months up to the point i installed software which required a reboot.

It bummed me out the software needed a reboot.
Uptime down the drain. :(

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

well nevertheless i find it a long time. Although its probably not long in 'admin-l33tish-server-terms'... to me personally i say "wow".

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

Well yes that's true. It only applies for servers tho. :D
My desktop PC goes off every night. ;)
max uptime is max 18 hours on a weekend day. week days maybe only 4 or 5 hours.

biohazerd87 30-11-2004 19:28

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

well the reason i say that 195 is a lot is cause the most i have ever seen on like is maybe 30 or 35

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

So how did you do it? Did you replace the hamster in the wheel with a cyborg hamster?

:P

Pierre-Marie Baty 01-12-2004 23:33

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

well, we took the hamster out, and we put @$3.1415rin in place. Haven't you noticed the server runs much smoother than before ?

Only problem now is that we have a hamster for sale.

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

Have it give motivational speeches to Aspirin to speed up the server.

hold on, isn't pi 3.14159? making the 4dp version 3.1416?

so @$3.1415rin should be translated as "as-nearly-pi-rin" ???:(

@$3.1415rin 02-12-2004 00:59

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

yes, right, 3.14159265358979323 and so forth ...

putting me into that wheel instead of the hamster isnt a very good idea, i've currently only an average uptime of about 18 hours per day, that's not enough for the BU server ...

but I forgot, we can bring back the hamster from the catacombs :D at least for the missing 6 hours

Pierre-Marie Baty 02-12-2004 02:46

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

@brainz: wahahahaha! I love. Guess where this one will make it ?

@asp: shut up and run :P

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

this is turning into a spam thread.... so SPAM SPAM SPAM

stefanhendriks 02-12-2004 10:31

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

aw, that cute little hamster?

Though, i somewhere read that Asp did not make it no1 (but half?) with a contest, meaning our server runs at only 50% capacity? :P ;)

nevertheless Asp, great work! :D

if you wanna know how....

this is how...

biohazerd87 05-12-2004 03:31

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

well i know but what causes that to happen?

sPlOrYgOn 05-12-2004 03:33

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

i hear that a lot but what is it.... is it a search engine finding the site or something

sPlOrYgOn 05-12-2004 03:37

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

they're indexing the site..
those little sneaky things come up at night and then all of a sudden...
... THEY POP UP AND GET YOU INDEXED!!!! 8o
even google's spiders don't bombard a site as much as this one...

stefanhendriks 05-12-2004 13:29

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

well, they would probably now index everything we even thought by now :P

Exilibur 05-12-2004 22:16

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

that spider thing reminds me of that tom cruise sci fi movie where he is having his eyes changed, and then the police sends some spiders into some building where he is hiding... wtf was the name of that movie anyway...?

But those spiders seems just as creepy as those searchengine spiders...

an NO, it's not mission impossible.

MINORITY REPORT! I knew it would come to me if i just waited long enough...

stefanhendriks 05-12-2004 23:03

Re: [useless] Uptime, and user

ROFL. Yeah, that movie is cool.
