Zombies on the Rise...
Heyyo,
I was just surfing the net, n' came across some interesting games/mods all invole zombies: Rebel without a Pulse, I mean, c'mon, just look at the title, it's obviously gonna be a game aboot zombies with some comedy. It's created by bungie, and is on a soupped up version of the Halo engine, and you take on enemies that quote, "have shotguns, tanks, and all manner of futuristic weaponry. All Stubbs has is his own rotting corpse, a distinct lack of pain or conscience, and the ability to turn foes into zombie allies." :) http://www.stubbsthezombie.com/ Zombie Panic is for the HL engine, and if you read it, it sounds like fun... of course, most of the time the zombie's win, but hey, I like the idea of it, n' I'm gonna dl it to play this at home. Plus, due to the basic gameplay, a bot could be easily built for this if one ain't already provided :D http://www.zombiepanic.org/site/index.php?c=news Blue Moon Rising sounds plenty sweet, it's on the UT2k4 engine, and it's a cooperative game where you kill zombies and try to beat levels. Also, since the UT2k4 engine has built-in mic support, I'd be funny to hear your buddies shreak in fear as zombies eat them alive.... well, at least I think I'd be funny. :) http://www.bluemoonrising.co.uk/ I wonder if there's mods like this being made for the Doom3 engine since it already has zombies... Thanks for the info. Have you played 'They Hunger'? It's a single player mod for HL, in my opinion one of the best sp mods. Here are some screenshots:

They Hunger 2 and They Hunger 3 IMO the 3rd episode is definitely the best. You wake up in a hospital (after the end of the 2nd episode) and it turns out something happened during the night. Nurses are gazing at you... strangely. Freaky. But I don't want to spoil it, see for yourself :) |

Goddamn! Some of those zombies are annoying!! I mean the skeleton and the female ones. When the female zombie goes, "Why do we hunger?" it reminds me of my old music class. And then the skeletons won't shut up!!! It takes 3 seconds after I kill them.
Other than that, it's pretty good. |

Brain Dead, HL1 mod which is in closed beta. Beta is expected to last 1-2 weeks, so there could be a release within a month. Looks amazingly good. Very similar to zombie panic, but with lots of AI controlled police, soldiers, and zombies. |

Hmm zombie hunter.. the idea of it, it sounds like another series I know... hmm, but what could it be eh? almost as if it had some kindof relation to the umbrella corporation... and a series called Resident Evil... nah. :P And the screenies for both those mods look incredible man, sometimes I forget the power of the UT Warfare Engine. ;) [EDIT] Ok, I found summore, but this time it's for Postal 2... ***WARNING: Postal2 is really hardcore, only check it out if you're like, 17+ cause the game's pretty sadistic*** http://www.resstudios.com/ Eternal Damification expands on apocalypse weekend on the idea of slaying zombies, with extreme prejudice. :P |

For HL2 That zombie mod for Postal 2 looks promising, if it gets released some day I just might give Postal 2 a try again. The only fun I ever had on that piss-poor game was playing multiplayer LAN using a buggy as hell mutliplayer hack when the game first came out, just because the bugs were hilarious. |

HL1 mod, coop zombie killing, by the makers of Public Enemy. ...And its out. Needs some polish and some more dedicated servers, but its a lot of fun. Perfect mod for LANs anyway. |

Some great mods here, i've never really been a fan of pure Zombiness (is that even a word?) but i got a few mods downloading, see if my mind can be changed

Heh, me too, I wasn't a big fan of zombie games forever cause I used to be in fear of them, now I play them for joy, cause some really scare the crap outta ya, and at least that's funner than monotnous games. (You can't play a Serious Sam fest for like, half a day, gets boring too fast :P) |

Those two RE Sven Coop maps are excellent for LANs, but terrible for online play.

Lol, I was upgrading the waypoints for RE1 and I noticed the bots will probably never beat it. They can do the first parts ok (did a few "open later" flags and they worked fine, gj on that cheesh! :D) and then once they get to the slippery roof? they fall off right away. I tried several different waypointing gimmicks, but that roof's just too hard for them.. oh well. A human will have to navigate the roof, then get the key n' open the doors first, then bots should avoid the roof... sometimes they don't though... I'm gonna keep waypointing it cause yes, it is a fun map indeed. ;) |
