Re: Moderators
LOL...:D Well, I wouldn't object... Although it seems like SoUlFaThEr, MarD and me are plenty for a not-so-busy part of the forum... but you know what? MarD and me have been tinkering with the thought of a website again. Just a little page that would serve as a kind of waypoint portal. Ppl would be able to see a list of waypointes for several bots, download, rate and comment them. They could sort the list by rating, by date or by waypointer. There would be a news section right on the main page, where waypointers and admins could add info like "Jan 12, 2005: WaypointManiac submitted PODBot waypoints for de_dust5 and de_aztec3 today - get them here".
That would be nice, I think... 9_9 MarD pointed me to a site where they offer a kind of customizable portal for such purposes... I got the link somewhere... oh yeah, in my mailbox. Well, I can post it or PM you if you're interested. I suppose that if we really get such a site up & running, we could use help to keep it well-maintained, and then it would seem quite logical to me to have you as a moddie here, too. What do you think? |
Re: Moderators
I wouldn't object if biohazerd be a moderator either, he qualifies too, since he's contributed making podbot waypoints a lot.
However the question is: do we need so many moderators in this forum ? If the project T Wrecks is talking about requires another people join the mods crew, then I wouldn't object. Otherwise, well, we wouldn't want to end up with more moderators than members in this forum, no ? :) If there's a need for a new moderator here post your request in the agora and take care to explain well why another one is needed. |
Re: Moderators
being a MOD isnt all that great if there arent assholes to give you something to moderate :)
since this place is full of good peeps.......who needs em :) hehe |
Re: Moderators
Heyyo,
I think you'd qualify Biohazard, and for our waypointing page idea TWrecks, it would never hurt to have an extra mod to help. Cause 2 3/4 (my brain seems to be only somewhat working these days :P) brains is better than our current 1 3/4 brains. At that old n' dead site fusion-games, we had like, 4 site admins (although one only posted like, 3 times n' then never showed up again, lol, so really it was 3...) for only like, 80 people. I bet our waypoint site will generate many, many hits per day so I think we'd need all the moddies we can for that. This forums more of optional moddies cause it's not that busy. So I'd vote for ya biohazard for our site project easily, but for the forums, well, I guess I could vote for you, but we're currently a little vaccant for our current amount of moddies. :P BTW, TWrecks, when we gonna get this idea off the ground? I'm bored at school, and 3 forums aren't enough to keep me entertained. :P (Lol, I post here, nukebox, and the official HaloPC forums called "The Maw." |
Re: Moderators
As soon as you like... the thing is that I'm currently right in the middle of my diploma examination, so I'm terribly short on time. To be honest, I'm not too keen on fiddling around with web pages atm... and since biohazerd told me that he knows some HTML and stuff and already wanted to setup a waypoint d/l page on his own cost, I reckon he'd be a natural choice for such a site. However, my contribution would be limited to general ideas concerning the structure and the functionality of the site (meaning that I cannot contribute code or nifty little scripts, but I can think of some nice functions that I consider to be interesting, and I have some idea of how the site could be structured). And of course, I could post news once in a while - but mostly I would be making waypoints, I guess...:D

Re: Moderators
Heyyo,
He knows HTML eh? then biohazard, I'd nominate you for moddie np. I know some HTML, but very basic (like, webmonkey's html tutorials basic :P). Since TWrecks and SF seem a little busy, it's obvious just 3 moddies ain't enough for the waypoint forums, especially if we want our own waypoint site that'll need to be updated daily, if not tri-hourly. ;) |
Re: Moderators
well thanks, not a big deal if i am a mod or not, but i can really help with the website you guys can make.... i am learning some DHTML, and i also know some people who are awsome with Adobe Photo Shop that can hook us up with a sweet layout ( i actutally know HTML, XHTML, SOME ASP, SOME PHP, and SOME JAVA SCRIPT.... learn flash and DHTML)
|
Re: Moderators
also a side note..... i just played a great map... it's called de_leestore not sure if you have waypointed it or not yet but it is great.... i think we should throw it in something. if you wanna see it head over to http://server.counter-strike.net/maps/

Re: Moderators
Heyyo,
Looks nice, and dude, that de_frosty looks incredible for a map on the HL engine, I'm getting both. :D Bio, start up a poll, cause I'm sure you'd make it for moddie if you told them it was for extra help with our new waypoint page project. Ok, well biohazard, we can either code the site manually in HTML (or DHTML if you want to as well), or we can use this webportal thing I used to use back at fusion-games, the link's www.e107.org very nice, easy to upload files, and you can make your own layouts easy. and it's easy to setup uploading for public, and there's commenting, and a built in rating system. If we did do this in HTML, I'm sure I'd figure out the structure n' just copy n' paste it each time we add a new download n' such. So dude, let's us waypointing moddies decide, manual HTML, or e107.org webportal? I vote webportal, you guys? |
Re: Moderators
You guys make your own php scripts to do exactly what you want which is of course let people download waypoints :D
and also do it in xhtml so that a lot of different browsers can view it! |
Re: Moderators
(not moddie) but yeah i think we should do it upright HTML

de_frosty is great, but there really is a problem with that stupid glass near CT spawn... it's a func_breakable, every now and then bots try to shoot it although it doesn't obstruct their path... unfortunatley, the material is set to "unbreakable glass", so bots will end up firing all their ammo into the window and finally pulling out their knife in an attempt to break the glass... fortunately that doesn't happen very often, though. As for the decision on what to base the website upon... I don't know how much work it is to reach all the functionality we have in mind (rating system, sorting by various criteria) with either of the three methods. I can't really judge it.... Another question: Could the site be hosted on BU? How about the name "waypoints-united.com"? :D |
Re: Moderators
Heyyo,
I'm sure whatever system we use it'll work out great. ;) N' yeah, forgot to add this in last post, but biohazard, if you can get your buds to help us make a kickass layout for out site, then tha'd be awesome. :) Heyyo, you havn't started a poll yet bio, get to it so you can become a moddie n' then we can all start gettin this idea off the ground. :D [EDIT] Oh, bio, you started the poll in the wrong spot, so I moved it to the agora.. har har, I got to move a thread, "I feEL SO STRONG!... SO STRONG!... So strong...". Heh, Alice Cooper - Hello, Hooray! :P @TWrecks: Heh, sounds like a cool idea for the website, but wouldn't we have to buy that domain name since it wouldn't be under the bot-united.com one? if so, if any of us is willin' to dish out the cash to buy the domain, then we could do that, or we might get stuck with something like waypoints.bots-united.com.... somewhat OT: BTW, any of you guys got good waypoint sites to add to my stickey? some parts are a little slim, and this could be great for our site under the links section. ;) |
Re: Moderators
if we don't get hosted on BU i know another guy who offers 150 megs of space 20 gigs of bandwidth for like 10 bucks
@ T Wrecks- Yes i will waypoint de_leestore |
Re: Moderators
You could be hosted at BU, but under the bots-united.com domain.
So that would be, "waypoints.bots-united.com" (or whatever you choose before bots-united.com) |
Re: Moderators
@biohazerd87: Good to hear. Sometimes I like a map, but just feel no motivation to waypoint it... de_leestore was one of those cases. But it would be a shame if there were no PB 2.6mm waypoint for it.
@Pierre: waypoints.bots-united.com sounds fine to me. =) Simple and tells everything. |
Re: Moderators
wow... no only is de_leestore huge... it is also very very hard to waypoint but i think i got this one down pretty good :)
|
Re: Moderators
Heyyo,
Heh, yeah, new waypoints for new maps are good. Depending on how fast we get this site up, I'm thinkin' of keeping my RCbot Sven Coop HL1 Singleplayer Campaign waypointpack full back until we get this site up n' going, so it'll be like, a unique to our site pack for a few days at least. Har har, we can horde our precious waypoints to ourselves for a few days and feel like massive corporations. :P BTW, just got 2 maps left to do, n' maybe some final waypoint fixes, it'll be done within the week (well, insept for 1 map, something like c4a3f or something, I can't seem to load it up... keeps crashing.. I'll try reinstalling it...) |

Re: Moderators
Heyyo,
Heh, ladders... if you think waypointing ladders with PODbot is hard, try it with RCbot. before I finally found the right noclip_mode console command, I would find all these neat little ways I could work around the ladder waypoints. One good one I found was to place norm waypoints 1 foot away from the ladder, and so bots would (usually) leap onto the ladder, n' climb up, sometimes in pairs! =) And now? I know how to use noclip mode properly, so I've been going back, n' fixing the majority of my ladder waypoints n' properly waypointing objective waypoints so bots could pass all levels. (To do this I just placed objective waypoints after the level tansition parts so bots would try to make it to the objective waypoints, but end up just passing the level, smart eh? :)) Which reminds me, gotta do a post in the RCbot forums concerning a new idea on how to handle ladder waypoints, and that he did fix bots so they don't shoot at the tentacles when they're underground... but they don't shoot at them at all now, lol, which's pretty funny cause they'll run aboot all happily... until a tentacle starts slamming the ground infont of it. :D |
Re: Moderators
Well, technically ladders are easy to wp in PB. However, in de_leestore there are many ladders which can only be accessed from odd angles and end at railings, so bots have to climb up and then go down the ladder... plus, the map is full of vents etc. etc.... it's not the ladders alone.
But from waht you tell about RCBot, it might be a piece of cake after all. :D |
Re: Moderators
Seems You, guys, don't want to be good examples for Your members in Your forum. I mean about something like offtopic in the thread. :D

Re: Moderators
here are the waypoints for de_leestore..... i am trying some new techneqs (which i can't spell) and i think you might likem... there was only one thing that i can't get right......... the place where you get into the vent from the table bots get stuck........
and i so just swollowed a whole cheese nip.....ow e if your not t wrecks downloading these waypoints is pointless :| not only do they suck* they are a WIPo_O * they don't actaully suck i just don't want you to download them [EDIT] Actually i have fixed some errors in it but thats cool... T Wrecks just review it anyways and tell me what you think [/EDIT] |
Re: Moderators
Just downloaded the file... looking forward to playing the map and seeing how well you did... :)
*EDIT* I continued the stuff in a new thread... KWo is right. |
