Yeah that sounds like with the arrival of GraveBot that a redesign will be needed. Nice idea guys. We'll see that after the server is repaired, ok ? :)

Apparently other things had priority during the server update - quite understandable IMHO. Sounds like there was a sh*tload of things to fix...

Anyway, I think that a "final" draft of the new forum layout would be a nice thing to submit to a public poll in order to collect opinions and suggestions rather than just changing the forum structure without any notification.

The structure itself, however, looks good to me. :)

Seems like there has been some reorganizing on the forum... is that some sort of middlestage before a more general overhaul or is it just an addition because of HL2?

oh and btw, I can see the moderaters board... I don't think I'm a mod.

Well this is indeed looking pretty good pmb ;)


but I do have a some comments about the design nevertheless:

• The gametype pictures do like nice, but they seem awfully untidy an all over the place. I think it would look nice if they were aligned to the right of the cell.
• I think it would look nicest if the agora was placed on the top in the yappa section. It might look nice too, if the bots were sorted in some way too... you could sort them after what games they are supporting?
• This last one is kinda weird, but for some reason the windows icon down with the bot forums are somehow associated with something bad inside my head... and I'm not even an open source fanatic! I think it's because growing up with windows i learned that the windows symbol represented files i could not open... That's the best explanation i have... Anybody feel the same way? - And is it possible to find another icon that symbolizes windows without ripping up so many old wounds?

generally it looks nice though, and a little overwhelming, but i don't think there's an easy solution for that, besides minimizing some parts of the forum.. I'm pretty much only using the four first ones anyway.

That was exactly my first thought - looks like "unknown file type" or "darn, where's that program I need?" or "shit, something must have gone wrong"... I didn't know any better solution, though, that's why I shut my trap.

I agree 100% with your post, though... if you have read the first (invalidated) poll thread, you know that I had suggested something slightly different originally... But sorting the bots (perhaps CS first, other HL mods second, other games / mods last or vice versa would be nice).

hm, I think the icons are ok. well that is the windows icon, and no wonder that it's associated with such "feelings" :)

btw, maybe also put the hl icons to the hl1/hl2 subforums ?

use the windows xp icon :P it doesn't look as bad (gives a bad impression) like the other ones does....

It's not easy to put them to the right, because so far they are "part" of the subtitle string, if you see what I mean. Putting them to the right would require big changes in the forum's PHP code.

Making them less dark, this I can :)

I liked the old ones better. you cannot make it right for everyone, some are using the default theme, some the dark theme ...
