HELP: How to install mm and podbot mm
 

I tried to follow the instructions but you need to create everything yourself WHY DOESNT IT INCLUDE STUFF IN THE DOWNLOAD ???:(???:(???:(???:(???:(???:(???:(???:(???:(

OMG its so hard and its giving me all the shit about what to do and i have no idea im so confused could someone just give me a simple guide on how to install the damn thing, what files to put in addons\metamod and what to put in the files to install potbod? I KNOW IM A DAMN STUPID NOOB !!! BUT PLEASE HELP ME i cant do it by myself :'(:'(:'(

To install metamod You need to do this:
1. Download the latest binaries file from :
http://metamod.org/
Currently the latest file You need is this:
a) if You have windows:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/m...n.zip?download
b) if You have linux:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/m...ar.gz?download
c) if You have AMD64 linux:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/metamod/metamod-1.20-linux-amd64.tar.gz?download

2. If You don't have yet the "addons" directory in Your mod directory (mod directory - I mean "cstrike" or "czero" directory), then You have to create it. Example for CS1.6 steam version:
C:\Program Files\Sierra\Steam\SteamApps\your@email.address\co unter-strike\cstrike\addons

Example for old WON CS1.5 version:
C:\Program Files\Sierra\Half-Life\cstrike\addons

3. In that created by You addons directory (step previous), You need to create also metamod directory and inside it also dlls directory.
Example:
...cstrike\addons\metamod\dlls

4. Extract this file You downloaded from metamod web site (first step) and just copy metamod.dll file to this \metamod\dlls subdirectory You created in step 3. For linux users the name of this file You need to copy instead metamod.dll it's metamod_i386.so or metamod_amd64.so (for AMD64 linux users).

5. Go to Your metamod directory and then create a plugins.ini file (text file) and put there this line:

a) for windows:
win32 addons/podbot/podbot_mm.dll

b) for "normal" linux:
linux addons/podbot/podbot_mm_i386.so

c) for AMD64 linux:
linux addons/podbot/podbot_mm_amd64.so

This plugins.ini file should be in metamod directory (not in metamod\dlls).

6. Go to Your mod directory (for example "cstrike" or "czero") and find this file - liblist.gam

7. Change this line in it:
gamedll "dlls\mp.dll"

to this:
gamedll "addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll"
or for linux
gamedll_linux "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod_i386.so"
or for AMD64 linux
gamedll_linux "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod_amd64.so"

Note - bring attention at these slashes (for win "\", for linux "/").

8. Download Full pack podbot mm V3Build22 from here
and extract it to Your addons directory. You have to see these directories after extracting:
...\cstrike\addons\podbot (and some subdirectories here...)
...\cstrike\addons\metamod\dlls

9. If there is some build more up-to date - download the latest build of PODbot and replace (after extracting from a zip file) podbot_mm.dll (for windows). You can get it here.
For linux i386 get the file and linux amd64 get here.

You may use this dll (or so for linux) if it will be more up to date, because it may inlude more features than the one from V3Build22.

10. Try to start the game and say us if this was sufficient what I was writting about a half hour... :P

there's also a thing called the "Presetup pack"

which will install metamod podbot and statsme it contains both windows and linux versions (linux pobot is outdated alot)

all you do is download the file and extract the contents, drag the whole cstrike folder to your installed folder:

cs1.5
C:\Program Files\Sierra\Half-Life\

steam
C:\Program Files\Sierra\Steam\SteamApps\your@email.address\co unter-strike\

and say yes to overwriting files and your done.

Ps: if anyone can get the source and compile a linux .so plz do so and email it to me and splorygon

I don't understand what you are saying, do i have to create a text file with notepad or do i change something in the file?

If You don't have yet plugins.ini file in Your metamod directory, You need to create it by notepad and then write to it that my line. If You have already this file (with some other plugin calls), You need only edit it to add that my line.

wait, ok right now in my metapod directory i have a folder that has .dlls and a notepad file that has

win32 addons/podbot/podbot_mm.dll

again im really sry but im a total noobie at this

In Your metamod directory You should have a dlls directory and the file plugins.ini (created by You in notepad) with that my line.
..\metamod\dlls [DIR]
..\metamod\plugins.ini

in this dlls subdirectory You should have metamod.dll file.

..\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll

okay i did every one of the instructions (correctly i hope) and i start up a new game in cs, but im just there sitting by myself :'(. In my metamod directory i have a dlls folder and a text file (which i made by myself) named plugins.ini which, if you open contains

win32 addons/podbot/podbot_mm.dll

What mod are You using (CS1.5, CS1.6, CZ or what) and what operating system (some windows or Linux)?

Most of the people don't have the file extensions shown in Windows when they browse their files. Thus if our friend created this file with notepad, chances are that it'll be actually named "plugins.ini.txt".

Only thing is that the .txt doesn't show :)

Ensure you have the file extensions displayed.

I got your PM, bamboo. Instead of replying to it I'll post in this thread so it can profit to other members who may encounter the same problem in the future.

In order to have Windows display the file extensions, open a file browsing window, and go to the menu Tools->Folder options (the name may be slightly different because I have the french version of Windows XP). You'll get an options window with three tabs. Click on the "display" one (second tab). There you have a list of checkboxes. Down in that list you have a checkbox that says "Hide extensions for known file types" (or something like that). Just uncheck it and click OK. Now all your files should have the right extension displayed, so you can rename them easily and change their extension by hand.

ok i fixed the .txt problem but when i still go to new game after opening cs, im still getting no bots, do i have to type something in consol, am i missing something?

BTW im using CS1.6 on Windows

Do You have some "addbot" commands in Your podbot.cfg file in
..\addons\podbot
directory?

Also try to go to console (after starting the game) and write:

meta list

Then write us here what did You see after this "meta list" command typed by You.

Are You sure You correctly extracted podbot (to correct place)?

You should have the podbot directory placed like here:

..\cstrike\addons\podbot

and in this podbot directory You should have podbot_mm.dll file.

make sure that only "Win32 addons/podbot/podbot_mm.dll" is in plugins.ini. make absolute sure that that is the only text you see in plugins.ini without the quotes

ok kwo i don't think its the plugins thats the problem, because i used yours and replaced my existing one and when i clicked new game it still didn't work and when i went to meta list in console it still had the exact thing. and i don't think i have a add bot command what would it look like?

OK. We will try something different now. Open Your Windows Explorer and go to Your ..\cstrike\addons directory. Try to show me how looks Your addons directory by making screenshots (print screen) - open "Paint" and paste there this what You made by "print screen". Then save this picture as a jpg file and post it here. I hope You understand what I want to see and You will show me this.

it's clearly a plugins.ini problem because else if the podbot DLL was *not found* he would have a "BADF LOAD" on it... and not *nothing*.

I bet he just didn't put the plugins.ini file at the right place.

Be sure that plugins.ini file is in metamod directory (not in ...\addons\metamod\dlls - this place is incorrect).

...\cstrike\addons\metamod\plugins.ini

this is correct place.

What the version of metamod.dll do You have? (right mouse button click and see properties). Should be 1.17.2

No - don't attache it, just open that file, mark all, and then copy and paste here.

You can attache only some type of files, like bmp, jpg, zip, cfg , txt etc. You can see this over the button for "Manage Attachments" as "avalid file extensions".

Are You sure You are using a legal version of Steam? I don't know excatly why do You have Half-life subdirectory in Your Counter-Strike directory, Seems like You installed to that Counter-Strike directory also the previous HL (with CS1.5). I don't have more directories (in my Counter-Strike subdirectory) than cstrike, valve, errorlogs, gldrv and platform...???:(

yea i have a llegal version of steam, about the hl directory in my counter-strike directory i was gona use a yapb bot first, but i extracted it in the wrong place and i forgot to delete after

OK. Show me also:

1. The properties of Your shortcut to the game (the command line) - something like this ...\Steam\steam.exe (right mouse button click at shortcut to Your game).
2. Launch the steam, but don't launch the game - on the list of games showed You at right side (after clicking "Play game" at the first window opened by launched steam) right button mouse click at "Counter-Strike" to look at the properties of the game - and show me Your "Launch game options".
3. If You have some autoexec.cfg file in Your cstrike directory - also copy and paste it here (like before with this liblist.gam file).

Find in Your cstrike directory the file "listenserver.cfg" and at the end of it put these lines:

mp_logmessages 3
mp_logdetail 1
log on

Then start the game, look if there is possible see something by "meta list" in console and write:

condump

After this close the game. Then go to Your ..\cstrike\logs directory and find the 2 latest log files (look at the date and the time of them). Then zip them to the file and post it here (You can attache zip files). Go to cstrike directory and find a file named condump000.txt (or condump0xx.txt if You already made this). Take the latest (by date and time) zip and also post it here.

I'm having problems with podbot loading on my server too. I downloaded a package off a post by "jost" on steam users forum that included podbot, metamod, and a headshot trainer mod. I extracted all three to steamapps counterstrike cstrike addons just like it said. It came with a dozen or so wpf files for various maps and theyre all right there in the bodpot directory. However, when my server starts it says unable to load podbot cfg plus wpf files and says "no waypoints for this map, cant create bot" when I type addbot in my console. Addmin mod is running (i downloaded that cause it automatically installs metamod for you) and it shows the two plugins when I type meta list (stats and podbot). Anyway, why wont it load the waypoint files and everything I need to get going. It apppears everything is in the right directory, but I could be wrong, I'm brand new to this.

does the plugins.ini file need to be in admin mod folder instead of metamod, or does it need to be in both. It is not in addmin mod folder, but it is in metamod folder

First of all, you could have edited your last post instead of double posting, I think. ;)

Hmm... the waypoints shouldn't be in podbot. Does your folder structure look like this (starting with cstrike)? :

cstrike\addons\metamod\ (should contain some more sub-folders, as well as plugins.ini)

cstrike\addons\podbot\ (should contain podbot.cfg, botweapon.cfg and podbot_mm.dll, among other files)

cstrike\addons\podbot\wptdefault (should contain all waypoint files)

And the console command to add a bot has changed to "pb addbot".

The location of the plugins.ini is actually not that important. You see, in metamod's config.ini (THAT one should be in cstrike\addons\metamod!), there can be a line " plugins_file "xyz" ", where "xyz" is the path to your plugins.ini file. If there is no such line, or if the line starts with two slashes ( // ), then plugins.ini MUST be in cstrike\addons\metamod. Complicated, huh? :D
