Showing off my stereo :P

Hey guys,

http://realbot.bots-united.com/images/hifi.jpg
leet huh? :) Its wall-mountable and i will do that in my new room when we are moving. I could also show off my new keyboard , but that would be to much ;) :P

Re: Showing off my stereo :P

Is it one of those surround systems ??

I like the wall mounting part.
Saves some room not having to put on some kind of furniture 9_9

Re: Showing off my stereo :P

no, it is not surround sound or something. Just an ordinary stereo ;)

Yeah, in my new room i will be having only a 3m by 3m room. So i have to be very cautious with the space i have.

Re: Showing off my stereo :P

Yeah, plus a super-luxurious, high-end surround sound system with dozens of speakers would really be exaggerated for such a room. And that stereo you got is definitely an eye-catcher, unlike those ugly black crates that 90% of all stereos are made up of.

looks stylish... but how does it play?

it doesnt i just for the sweet look of it.. :P
very stylish.. did you take the image yourself?.. ;)

Re: Showing off my stereo :P

the image is from the company. They would not let me ctrl-c/v it, so i had to make a screenshot of windows to get the image. Although its slim, the sound is pretty good. I like slim stuff :D

Looks nice, how much did it set you back?

Re: Showing off my stereo :P

only 139 euro's :P There where those 'boxes' (normal stereo's) costing (way) more... and the real benefits? I dunno.. heh, perhaps the casette deck? ... which i do not use anyways.

The looks, man, the looks! Maybe you can replace this "Philips" sign with "Bang & Olufsen" - some ppl might fall for it. :D Then, when somebody sees it, you can muster all your coolness and say something like: "Yeah, nuthin' great. Alright, the baby cost me as much as normal ppl would spend on a new car, but hey... either you have it or you don't - and I have it, babe! Wanna feel some good vibrations?" *sighs* *smooches* :P
Just make sure you hide that price tag... or scribble two zeroes behind. ;)

the looks? rofl, i find a box that eats up so many space a waste of money! :) I rather have a slim stereo :D

You would be afraid if I showed you mine :D
it's what Wrecks would call an 'old black crate' but since the CD player was dead I gored it and installed an old CDROM drive instead, also it has a 486 DX/2 motherboard in it with a netcard and a sound card (of coarse) that allow it to play MP3s from my network :)

Leagle 28-08-2004 12:55

Re: Showing off my stereo :P

Hmm, that sounds very reasonable -all my players are broken, including my discman, which ejected some of its componants when I opened it!

I suppose they are all rather dated now, I take good care of my equiptment you see.

[EDIT] I'm sorry Pierre, you have a CDROM drive in your ...stereo??!!!:D

Re: Showing off my stereo :P

that's it ;)
either that or my stereo would not be able to play CD's anymore...

Well, I'd also be a member of the "Old Black Crate" club, then. However, I didn't mod mine... Pierre, can you leave ANYTHING alone at all? Or do you have to mod even your headset so that it pours you some coffee when you push a corresponding button? From what I've seen and heard, you seem to be a mixture of Q, Scotty and most of all MacGyver: "Beware, he has a chewing gum, some tape and a desk lamp, and we only have machine guns!" :D
Dang, and I'm too darn stupid to repair a brick... :|

Re: Showing off my stereo :P

The benefit of bulky speakers is usually better sound :P - u know, there's a reason why they build them like that ;)

There has always been a silent battle between speaker constructors and speaker designers because nice design usually compromises the sound. That's pretty much the same reason you wont find any audiophile buying a B&O stereo...

what you prefer is of course your own problem... some throws millions away on speakers they believe sound an inch better than the rest... other's do the same thing for design... i guess it's all priorities.

btw PMB sounds pretty cool with a modded cd-player

Oh, lookie lookie my cheap stereo!
http://img68.exs.cx/img68/9318/mystereo0024gd.jpg

Small, but at least the cd-player still works... Plus, it comes w/ a remote control... Very useful for when you're studying and listening some music... :D Yup, I do that.

My roommate's stereo :P. Picture not by me of course, no camera.

A $400 CDN investment. Even has a USB port, good for when we watch movies with my PC (or for LAN parties when you need some terrible, distracting music to blast and mess up someone's turn in a game).

My radio owns your radios! OK, that is not my radio. You can get more information at http://www.scitoys.com/scitoys/scito...ade_radio.html. I think it is funny that it uses a razor blade and graphite from a pencil as a diode.

Re: Showing off my stereo :P

That radio probably doesn't sound nice, but it gives bonus geek points.

Re: Showing off my stereo :P

I really should take a pic of my gored Intel-driven stereo..

*edit* the geek radio looks nice though, I recall when I was a kid our teacher showed us how to build a basic radio using 4 wires and a germanium diode :)
