Re: the best half-life 1 sinle player mod
The best single player mod I've played so far is Azure Sheep. Other ones like They Hunger 1, 2 and 3 are very popular too. "The Gate" is another good conversion, but I prefer Ops1942 for the quality of the work, too bad it is so short.
You may find a list of the available mods on websites such as planethalflife.com with a review... |

Re: the best half-life 1 sinle player mod
Put it simply Azure Sheep is what Blue Shift should have been :)
It's been made before Blue Shift was out, it's as long as Opposing Force (which means there are quite a couple hours to spend), it's well designed, right in the style of the Half-Life levels. Of course the story takes place in Black Mesa... but the end levels are REALLY well made, when you fight at the surface in the ruins of a city against apaches, tanks, militaries and special forces... but I don't want to spoil it. Give it a spin, it's worth the download :) http://halflife.multiplayer.it/azuresheep/ And you definitely want to play They Hunger 3, it's the BEST one in the trilogy !!! Graphic details, ambience and storyline altogether ! http://www.planethalflife.com/manke/theyhunger.htm @elitejavi: The Specialists is a multiplayer mod (and the best one). It cannot be played in single player. Check out http://www.specialistsmod.net |
Re: the best half-life 1 sinle player mod
Sounds interesting. I sort of gave up on MP mods when the one where you could be a head crab died. And AHL was a disappointment.
Thanks a lot mate. |
GHeeeaaarrgh!

Re: the best half-life 1 single player mod
http://www.poke646.com/ gets my recommandation as best SP mod. It has been downloaded 150k times. It contains an original soundtrack. It contains 20 megs of textures which are so good that they have been bought by a professional game company later on.
Best MP mod is clearly www.sow.moddb.com :D |
Re: the best half-life 1 sinle player mod
yes, poke 646 wasnt bad .... and the name itself is great, isnt it, dear ex-C64-users ?!

Re: the best half-life 1 sinle player mod
Heyyo,
I think that they hunger's great, but yeah, I like Azure's Sheep better... I love the billiard's cue. ;) I havn't played blue shift, cause I heard it sucked... I guess since PMB says AS is better than BS (lol...) I guess I made the right choice in not buying it. ;) But now? schools almost over, and I'm going home to download Marathon 2 and Aleph One since apparently M2's free software now... OOH! gotta force me buds to get it so we can do coop! why play games with good graphics but bad gameplay (ugh, Deus Ex 2 for example..) when you can play games with old skool graphics with great gameplay? :D [EDIT] Diddn't AS have a basic MP DM mod? I swear I remember swinging that billard's cue in MP... |
Re: the best half-life 1 sinle player mod
I'm surprised to see that nobody has so much as mentioned Wanted. Sure, it's western-themed and was released quite some time ago, but it's still one of the best single player mods out there.
You can get it here: http://www.maverickdev.com/wantedhl/ |
