Not sure how many people here are interested in the game, but I'm interested in it for its exceptional modding capabilities (mapping and code wise). The game, tho probably weak, will just be a bonus. :D

Anyone else looking forward to playing with it?

heard in many places now.. and i still think the same about it.. not intressted.. dont like the guy who stands behind it.. also.. killing monsters is outdated.. you might hint hl2.. but its not really like that at all.. its more humenlike anyday..

what was that guys name again... john carmack?.. after he did daikatana all he been to me is a smacktard.. i wont buy it unless it gets really good reviews..

John Carmack did not have anything to do with Daikatana. Thats John Romero you're thinking of. And it wasn't all Romero's fault that Daikatana sucked.

But anyway, how could you not be looking forward to playing Doom 3? Did you even play Doom when it came out? PC Gamer has already reviewed Doom 3, and they gave it a 96%. Thats a pretty damn good review if you ask me.

I played the leak of Doom 3, and it was quite impressive, even in its unfinished state. It was better then and more fun than many games I've purchased before.

romero,, yeah.. that was his name.. why wasnt it all his fault.. he lead it.. didnt he.. he and that other guy.. was that carmack? they split after quake2.. since one of them wanted to do multiplayer and romero wanted to go for single player..

im looking more forward to hl2 and battlefield2.. both uses havoc.. weee!

well i am lookingforward to doom3 bc it has a retold storyline. giving some info out on what you did not know about what happend ont he moon base. and more info on the marine guy.

especially q3, I've seen that games more as a nice tech demo ... well, if you see how many companies license that engine, that's not surprising :D

Read the book "Masters of Doom" and it'll explain why Daikatana wasn't completely Romero's fault, and also when/why Romero was fired from ID. Its a really interesting book actually.


EDIT: Make that "Masters of Doom", not "Master of Doom".

Doom3 will have its own physics system, which has been claimed by some to be as good if not better - course I haven't played either game yet, so I can't say either way. ;)

Only thing with modding Doom3: its in C++ - guess I'll have to finally sit down and learn it.

Both (Carmack and Romero) have admitted that the book is pretty fair and accurate (for the most part), so its an interesting insight to id software.
