[Nodes]

Hey! The new waypoint system is based on nodes, so if you got any nodes that you are proud of(cause the node owns your mamma :D ) , then please post them here :)

thanxxx

Re: [Nodes]

uhmm, is that usefull? i mean it will be the first few rounds, but realbot updates the nodes every new round so it wil be your own again very soon.
i think yoo can beter walk around alot and they will lear it to.
then again if you got no nodes at al it will be a nice start=) .

Re: [Nodes]

Yeah, you think so?
I was thinking for the lazy part of those who use the bots, and just wanna play. But as you said, you learn more if you walk around more.. ;)

Re: [Nodes]

They learn of all humans... so if someone has a server connected to the net, leave some nodes here... thx :)

Re: [Nodes]

Yeah! That would be awesome! ;)

Re: [Nodes]

What would be truely awesome would be some system to "merge" different realbot nodes (from the same map but from different computers) into one keeping the info from both in a way that you could benefit from the training and experience of both. Don't know if this can be easily done though.

Re: [Nodes]

I think that should be possible, but the question is, how to make that an easy procedure?

i could for instance load:

cs_assault.rbn

and then run

cs_assault.rb1
cs_assault.rb2

etc. These are also node files, but renamed. Then i can simply check them, load them and try to see if any information is usefull. Nice idea, lets keep it in mind, but mind also that this is on low priority.

Re: [Nodes]

That would be awesome :) sure stefan, i would be glad if you just had it in mind at all :)

Re: [Nodes]

I've got a website up (nothing special, really simple, actually) that you can check out with a few nodes/experience files on it:
http://es.d2mods.com/cs/realbot.html

Re: [Nodes]

Nice going :)
Currently there is a waypoint being made hosted by botunited, maybe they will have some space for node files :D

Re: [Nodes]

I've downloaded your nodes Perfect Cell. I'll try them asap...

Keep up the good work ;)

Re: [Nodes]

it is a bit offtopic but:

Stefan i have to compliment you on the great nodes system 8) .
I just re-node (had a few bugs) cs_office, went in spectator-mode and just watched the bots find their way over the boxes through the windows, it is awesome=) :D .

THX.

Re: [Nodes]

Cool. Maybe there awaits even cooler stuff from stefan ;)
keep the nodes comeing! :D

Re: [Nodes]

I added an updated commandmenu.txt to the site for RealBot WIP #2053+

Some more nodes will hopefully be up soon. I have a lamer on our LAN who likes to waypoint to stupid areas because he knows it gets the bots stuck (easier for him to kill). I try to re-waypoint them by myself when I have time, but it's a lot slower.

stefanhendriks 07-01-2004 20:47

Re: [Nodes]

Actually i would like to know where they get stuck. Btw, bots learn when they get stuck by nodes. They do not learn them perfectly yet on failure notices. But i have a plan in mind which will put 'often failed connections' on the 'disable' list.

you can send me the <mapname>.rbn file if you want. I will download the map myself if you give me a link ;)

@T!m, thx! :D

Re: [Nodes]

Well, one I recognized recently (actually not his fault) was in cs_assault. The bots get stuck in the room in the sewers (with all the computer monitors). They move right next to the ladder, stop and then run back into the computers (I think the bots believe they have already gone up the ladder). I wasn't sure how to fix this one.

As for his #1 favourite getting bots stuck methods (I'll post pics on the site soon):
de_dustier
- going into the sewers. The bots don't seem to duck where they should to continue moving.
- in the tunnels, breaking through the grates and then crawling through. The bots don't learn to break the grate and get stuck in the corner.

any_othermap
- jumping up on top of friends' heads and reaching otherwise unreachable crate tops
- walking very close to the walls so the bots get stuck on them

On an unrelated note:
On iceworld maps, the bots insist on shooting the ice in the middle of the map. Even with realbot debug dontshoot 1 on. They don't, however, shoot glass windows or that grate in dustier.

Re: [Nodes]

when this dude tries to reach positions with friends, let him. The bot will try once, but then he will notice the nodes he will try to go to are 'floating' (because normally a player would be there). I will try to add more features that will increase this learning ability. Let bots try to reach it, it will look dumb first, but the more you play, the less they will do so, eventually they have fixed all connections and your RBN file is 100% okay ;)

Weezer2k4 07-01-2004 21:28

Re: [Nodes]

Yeah!
This is the coolest thing about this darn bots, that they learn by the misstake that the make.. almost like human :S lol
anyway, good work steff! ;)

Ava3ar 08-01-2004 12:15

Re: [Nodes]

all i do is load CS Bot off the Steam-less 1.6 let them node the map, then launch RB, because i know the offical bot doesnt run into that many walls.

Weezer2k4 08-01-2004 18:19

Re: [Nodes]

Where did you get the official bots??

Fiber_Optic 08-01-2004 18:48

Re: [Nodes]

mmm...bot which learn on other bots... I'm doubtful of the result!

stefanhendriks 08-01-2004 19:35

Re: [Nodes]

Ava3ar is clever... as i said before, rb learns from any player. This means also any other bot. So , if you have a bot that walks around maps (because its waypointed already and such, or using the official cs bot) then rb will simply copy that nav data. The advantage is that realbot also will put nodes where other bots do not go (ie not waypointed).

Simple said, everywhere you go, the bots are able to go there as well...
