New moderator(s) needed for PB26mm forum

Because PMB and SF are much busy now, the POD-BOT2.6mm forum need new moderator (or moderators). PMB asked us to open this thread (poll) here. At that forum there is a thread with some nominations:

http://forums.bots-united.com/showthread.php?t=2177

According to the results of these nominations now we ask You , Council Members, to decide and vote who should be a new moderator there (or moderators - if You will decide this).
Only Council Members can vote and argue (if they need) for options here.

[EDIT]
OK - after PMB suggestion this poll is now for all members.
[/EDIT]

it should be much clearer that just members vote dont count.. or does them?

If I'm only a member I can't disable voting for "normal" members or change the counting system. So - I can ask only - please - don't vote here if You are not a Council Member... I hope this is clear now. ;)

Pierre-Marie Baty 05-07-2004 14:58

Re: New moderator(s) needed for PB26mm forum

Because this is NOT a public poll normal members should not vote so that the poll reflects only the council votes.

But it would have been better to make this poll a public one. On public polls, everybody can vote, so that the members' voice repartition may influence some or all of the council members' votes. This would have been more democratic.

Re: New moderator(s) needed for PB26mm forum

Sorry PMB - You exactly said this before:

http://forums.bots-united.com/showpo...05&postcount=6

It's my mistake. I don't know why I thought all time this should be a poll Council Members only. This should be a public poll. So how can I change this poll to the public one? Probably this IS a public poll , because I can't create another one. So - OK - who wants vote in this poll - vote now, please. Sorry for my mistake...

Re: New moderator(s) needed for PB26mm forum

Just a short remark: It would be nice if those who vote "nobody specified above" would say whom they would like to see as a moderator instead.
Pure "eh... who cares?" votes are not very helpful, I think. If you don't think KWo or me should be moderators (which is a perfectly legitimate opinion), then please offer an alternative or suggest something / someone, because the PB 2.6mm DOES need a moderator or two.

Yes - You are right. T Wrecks asked only write something if somebody has something against both of us - to propose something different (alternative). It's very easy to say - I'm disagree and I don't care what will happen at the result of this poll. But to say something positive if somebody is disagree needs more his effort. The problem is - our forum needs a moderator or moderators. So if You are disagree - give us some other solution.
I hope this is clear (sorry for my bad english...).
Simply look once again what T Wrecks said. ;)

BTW: I don't know exactly why all members from all forums here shuld decide about PB26mm forum - even these never looked there. Some of members simply don't have any business to create (or not) some moderator at our forum.... OK they must not to decide, but they can...???:(

I suppose the most important opinion of users should be the opinion of the POD-BOT2.6mm forum users. And You can read this opinion here:;)
http://forums.bots-united.com/showthread.php?t=2177

@ biohazerd87 - why didn't You say this before in the thread at the link I show above?

just give them moderators and we'll be through with it :D

Re: New moderator(s) needed for PB26mm forum

Though its nice to know what most people want... its not the council who must listen to all the people. I think when all the people themselves of the POD forum think they have found sufficient members and suppose them, then the council will surely agree with the proposal, because the council is actively busy with BU all the time.

Anyway, this is not about how and when the council should function or not (see the rules for that); its about moderator(s) for the POD MM 2.6 forum. Since there is some unclearity, i suggest you inventarisate on that forum who is willing to be moderator, or start a public poll on there. When you have candidates you can put them in a poll here...

even better would be if you already have managed to select a candidate and simply ask a YES or NO to us (the council)...

Sorry - but we did this already, but without poll - there was an open discussion about this. Look here (I also posted this link here):

I thought exactly in this way, but Mr. President wanted to open a public poll at AGORA (not only for Council Members) - so I couldn't be against him. ;)

Don't get this like some my offense or arrogance, please, but now it seems like Council Members need to create some clear roules how to create a moderator.

Too late... now this poll is running. As KWo said, we started a thread in the BU forum, and after a fair amount of replies, it showed that most ppl suggested either KWo or me for the job...

Maybe a "Bots-United Rule-o-Rama" would be a nice sticky in the Agora? One about topics like this? I'm sorry if KWo and me are causing any inconvenience or trouble here - if we had had a clear and concise set of rules to adhere to, things would have been easier for all of us, I think. As the BU community keeps growing, decisions become less easy to make on an ad hoc basis... that's where some rules should kick in and prevent possible misunderstandings. Just my personal $ 0.02, of course...

Aw, damn. Bad timing for your vacation. You didn't post anything in the preliminary thread (well, you couldn't, but we didn't know that), that's why you got "ignored".
Yeah, I just got your mail and will have a look at the WP in a minute.

Re: New moderator(s) needed for PB26mm forum

Big thanks to all people voting for us and for Your decision ,Pierre. T Wrecks and me - we were not sure if the result of this poll is whole valid , because even majority of Council Members didn't vote.
If the people and You decided to make as the new moderators - we need help them when they will need our help. The same - of course - for these voted against us. We are here for helping ALL people from our forum.
I'm not sure if "congrats" is a good "therm" in this situation. We didn't make any competition, so we are not some winners. Me - personally - I don't feel this. I didn't look for some important position at this forum, but of course, I feel honored because You and the people want me and T Wrecks as moderators. If I look at the begining of my joining here - I can't believe - some people warned me about possibility of ban me here and now I stayed a moderator. It's really odd - but this is life. ;)
T Wrecks and me - we will have more job since now. :)
Since now we stay as moderators only because existing moderators currently don't have so much time to do moderator's job, so we have to help them. The winners , I suppose , can be members of our forum and podbot2.6mm users.
Because IvPBot and [E]PodBOT are not longer supported, probably many users will join to our forum, so really there will be need of more moderators for our forum and this is now made.
Probably we need some tutorial about moderator's obligations and rights.
Anyway - big thanks for good words. :)

one more thing about this moderator stuff... why isn't sPlOrYgOn a moderator either ? He's the main coder of the bot, I think it's just fair to allow him to mod the podbot forum...

What do the other council members think ?

Re: New moderator(s) needed for PB26mm forum

That's a good point. Now that KWo & me are moddies, we can take care of moving / deleting threads and stuff, and sPlO could really use the moderator privileges to post the changed to the dll in the release thread KWo suggested @ the moddies' hideout.
This thread would be a sticky in the coding sub-forum, where sPlO could post the latest changes he made to the dll so there are no surprises.
It could look a bit like this:

Last BETA uploaded: [date]

changes compared to last official release:
- bla
- bla
- bla

The upload date and the changes list could be edited / extended every time a new BETA is out- this way we could keep track of what's happening. And if some change is reversed from one BETA to the next, a comment could be added by sPlO. Just a suggestion, of course.

Ok, so do we make an official poll this time or do we just make sPlOrYgOn a moddie? I mean, he IS the "main guy" behind the bot, and all the other coders are moddies, too, so I think it's due...

And concerning the release thread, I'd suggest we first open a thread in the general PB 2.6mm forum to collect ideas, and then, with the next official release, we open the release thread and start using it. Does that sound reasonable? ;)

Maybe it's reasonable but for sure about 70% it's offtopic. :D
Don't forget You are a moddie now, so You have to be exemplify. :D
I'll have call You to order. :D

You could simply write to me and sPlOrYgOn a PM about this without any afraid we will petition to Council for start the ban procedure against You because of "nagging" us , distress us or overflood our inboxes. ;)

BTW: Oooops! This one is 100% offtopic. KWo - I'm bringing Your attention.:D

KWo, this story is over. I was against deleting the threads concerning you because it would have been like if the council was faulty and that we wanted to hide something from you, but Nova decided so. Nonetheless you were not named a moderator without all this story in mind. And don't doubt that if somebody else was to come and act the same way, unless his attitude was clarified we would react identically.

Bringing back this old story here is untactful to say the less.

Why outsource to NeuroSpeech?
Difficulties of In-house Moderation

Doing in house content moderation may not result in great performance due to fact that Internet community has variety of nationals and age groups. Besides that we also provide timely reporting to demonstrate how we are performing against our expectations
  • Target Audience: A product or message with some nudity or inappropriate content may be attractive to young generation but not to old people. So the variety of content publishing depends upon age group, target audience.
  • Native Language Spamming: For internet based website, people from all over the world communicate and share the messages, but for your organization it may be difficult to hire people for every language to evaluate spam/inappropriate content. NeuroSpeech has dedicated teams in individual language to moderate the community.
  • Fake Profile Pictures: In order to determine fake profiles, its difficult to hire people who may have knowledge of famous artists/actors (whose pictures are usually uploaded by fake members to attract other members)
  • Subjective Moderation: Content like medical discussion or science discussion requires thorough knowledge of discussion subject in order to moderate. Inappropriate decision can result in degrading the quality of communication/discussion/members of the community and frustration to the members.
  • Dedicated Staff: There are many offshore companies doing many things with one employee, but at NeuroSpeech we have dedicated team only doing moderation and that gives you full dedicated attension our service with excellent quality throughput.
Cost

NeuroSpeech has variety of staff to moderate your content and we charge on per hour basis which starts at as low as $6/hr with 60-100 pages/messages/profiles/hr of moderation.

Dedicated employees and processes for moderation are available on request for very specific subjective moderation depending upon the context of content.

Pricing based on Per Message/Page is also available.
