CS Freezes at Lan Game Start
 

Ok I downloaded the Realbot Build 2060, unzipped the files correctly, activated Realbot for CS 1.6 and made liblist.gam a read-only file. So I started a lan game, it loads up, and once I am connected CS freezes. I can move my mouse around to move the pointer, but I cannot click anything and CS does not move. I've started lan games before, both before I've had Realbot and before I changed liblist.gam into a read-only file (at what time Realbot didn't work because of the unknown command error). Is there a way to solve this problem?

what did you do? your liblist.gam refers to realbot_mm.dll?

did you read the WIP_INSTALL.HTML?

Sorry, didn't have some things involving metamod installed correctly. Works well now, except I can't remove bots.

realbot remove <amount> <ofteam>

should work (if yo uare using the WIP version), if not you should try:

rb_removebot <amount> <ofteam>

Also, if I merely have 4 bots on my team and 5 bots on the other team for 5 vs 5, I lag a lot. Usually when you start a lan game, you have zero and your ping doesn't even show up on the scoreboard, yet when I have a 5 vs 5 game with bots the ping shows up at about 30, which is the equivalent of 200+ ping on the internet. Is there a solution for this, it makes trying to play with bots worthless and unenjoyable.

Another thing I noticed is that CT bots don't defuse! They run up to the bombsite when the bomb is planted, walk around, sometimes look at the bomb, but never defuse.

How powerful is your CPU? That can be your problem...

I don't have a very good computer, but in games on the internet, for example full 20-man pubs, I can run CS fine. Shouldn't I be at least able to handle 9 bots if I can handle 20 human players online? I think so.

Not me because a bot need a lot of cpu... try with less bots.

Yea, I've had it work with about 3 bots. Pretty dumb if I can't even play 5v5 with bots without tremendous lag.

I understand but nothing else to do... just close all other programs before playing...

there are some other things going on if you can run a 20 humans game but not 3 bots...

i wonder what version of rb you are running, if its RB AI V1.0 you will have 'tremendous lag' (read-> calculation time) at start, only for once per new map, after that you should be able to play atleast 5 vs 5.

But Stephan don't you think a bot needs a lot more cpu than a human player?
A bot think by the cpu, a human not...

Alrighty, I'm having the same problem with the my CS freezing up when starting a LAN game. I read about the mm making it work. I've read the instructions about the metamod, but where in the world is "plugins.ini"? My cpu is 450mhz with and onboard graphics card with 8mb (ONBOARD ANYTHING SUCKS!). I see the message at the top telling me it's loading up the wpts or wutever but it just freezes but i can still move mouse. Help!

Normal, the rb calculates the path for the bots and requires all your cpu power. Just let it finish! Could be quite long...

I do wait, but I know for a fact it's not working cause once I hit ctrl alt delete, it shows in the task manager counterstrike (not responding)

Be careful! When a program takes a lot cpu and do not respond, most of the times it is freezed (and dead). That's why windows considers them like freezed and shows " not responding". But it is not the case here. As I said before, just wait, maybe 5 minutes. And don't do anything at the same time!

Really 5... it depends of your cpu (mine is an Athlon XP 2700+ :D ), the map, etc...

while your helping me could you help explain how to install the MM? I don't know where plugins.ini is!?

The plugins.ini depends of metamod: click here

Read other threads to know what to put in it.
The realbot_mm.dll could be in your realbot/dll/ folder

I got my bots working fine i dont have metamod i dont see the need for it
but anyways i can play a couple of rounds but after a but (about 5-7 minuites)
the bots start dieing right away at the begining of the round then i have 2 quit cs and start all over again :(
