What Do u want Changed -- What Do u want to see
plz list here: it's still wip ;) i was busy the past week so haven't done much work on it :( but hoping that i can soon replace the old ones with at least the old section redone on this one :) thanx >BKA< T Wrecks for helping me =) whoops: it got some unclean stuff in it :o oh well.. |
Re: The New Docs
please no frames...
FireFox doesn't seem to be rendering these frames... :( try having the whole menu on the top and bottom or just tables to have the menu on the side or something.. for some reason FireFox doesn't render these frames.. I think when you use frames you don't use <html> or <head> i think.. [edit] try using http://www.w3.org/TR/html401 or http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1 [/edit] [edit2] oh i see... no <body> tags when using frames... if you see the frames example in html4.01 you see that they can just insert code in <noframes> without the body tags. [/edit2] [edit3] bleh... doesn't seem like FireFox can do frames.. [/edit3] |

Re: The New Docs
I hate IE and I will never use it!
except to update windows because thats more important.. and what about those linux folks who can't use IE? I suggest reading through http://www.w3.org/TR/html401 or if you want xhtml http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1 They help a lot. [edit] new docs??? it seems like old docs with new look... [/edit] |

Re: The New Docs
Hey Huntkillaz, excuse me for needlessly bothering you with that stupid PM I sent you! I just saw that 4 ppl had viewed my doc, but got no reaction whatsoever, so I got a little bit nervous.
It's a good idea that you opened a new thread for the docs - this will make it easier both for us and for other ppl to see what's going on. Ok, I've had a look at bots2.6.htm, and now [nagging mode on] I'm gonna post some thoughts on it... (btw, I need someone to do the same with my docs; I don't see my own errors!) bot2.6.htm Quote:

Concerning the "wptfolder" command: 1. Wasn't there something in the old doc that said changing the folder wouldn't take effect until the next mapchange / game start? If this is still valid, it ought to go into the documentation as well. 2. In order to make things clearer, I think it would be best to add an example that shows how to do it (like "wptfolder mywpts") and, maybe more important, one that shows how NOT to do it (like "wptfolder my wpts_2" or "wptfolder test\customwps", each of these examples in the appropriate place? In the "Radio commands" section: Quote:

Under "Bot Personality" Quote:
BotChat: Maybe it would be ideal to add the info that each BotChat contains a section where the chat system is explained, just to let ppl know they can edit all this to their respective likings and don't depend on the ones that came with the bot. [nagging mode off] Well, I think for a first version, this was more than ok! Finally some general thoughts: - I think a combination of white BG / black text would be more comfortable to read on screen. If ppl want to dig into the more detailed stuff, they will of course print the whole stuff. But whenever someone just wants to look up a certain point, he'll have an easier read if it's good old black on white. - sPlOrYgOn is right: Make it according to w3c standards. The docs must be readable on Linux and Win32, with IE, FireFox, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera and... well, even with that shitty AOL browser, I guess! Compatibility is god in the case of reference documentation; on the other hand, flash and all other eye candy is not really needed. If this were a page to show off on the www, ok. But documentation should be clean & free of unnecessary bulk. - Why do we include the original docs? Was it to make sure that we don't violate CF's copyrights or something? Because really, when I have PODBot 2.6 and use it, I don't care about reading obsolete stuff about older versions in the documentation. - I had actually planned the "common errors" doc as the last section of the "basic waypointing" part. The "advanced waypointing part was to contain the really 1337 stuff and all those fine tweaks that separate a truly good WP file from the merely working ones. ;) |
Re: The New Docs
lol i was about to reply to ur pm so i went to get a link to this thread and saw u saw this so then dropped it.
if u want u can fully do the waypoint section for the bot so it all looks nicely explained yep i'll change those things if ur thinkin 2.6 = 2.6mm which in this case it doesn't 2.6== the final verison cf left (ie the soruce) which could be built into a dll n played 2.6+==2.6mm (may rename it having + seems dodge) which is what were doing i haven't been through ur docs yet as i been busy lately i'll try go ove it by this weekend and actually those mistakes are cf's ;) i just ported his over and fancied it up, but i'll fix em.He seemed to repeat himself alot too o_O the reason i did the old ones is cause alot of ppl still use the old ones and here they can easily see the difference in the old and our shiny new one:) also thought that it would be nice to have cf's updated ... we could always drop it later coz they are all seperat .htm files as for browser compatibility ..it was the reason i hadn't done much, my firefox doesn't seem to open offline files at all and myie2 does but instead of targeting the mainframe it targets its _self i'll try work on that problem first i guess but it could also been done later coz as i said the docs are seperate htm files so u can just open the up indiviually for now... ps: thats as about eyecandy it's gonna get.... bot chat: yep sure sections are always changable.... so finally: if u can do the waypointing stuff, i'll do the other stuff.. |

And you're right, we can always change most things later. Just some thoughts. Well, you'll hear from me... =) |
Re: The New Docs
yo pmb..could u erase these three threads on docs here..i'll make a new when it's time
thanx |
Re: The New Docs
could someone who's still got pb 2.5 or lower write me a brief description of how u install it on cs1.5 n below and how u would in 1.6
as i recall i think 2.5 self installed for cs1.5 n below and u didn't have to do anything |
Re: The New Docs
pb2.5 doesn't work with 1.6...
yea it has an installer that did everything.. it's basicly the same way you install epb or ivpb.. just move the files into cstrike\podbot\ then edit liblist.gam to point to podbot.dll and edit to cfgs to fit your needs then run.. why do you need this info anyways? |

Re: The New Docs
so far if you play pb2.6mm in cs1.6, we haven't found any bugs that 1.6 has with the bots that 1.5 doesn't..
except maybe the "changelevel" command not being able to intercept that makes it so that the bots from the last map won't join the next map. |

* BUMP - O - RAMA!! * :D
Holy cow, it's been a while... I've just finished an important part of the documentation for PB 2.6mm. I had volunteered to contribute all waypoint-related documentation for this bot, and the result was supposed to look a bit like this: A) N00b introduction: WTF are waypoints? B) All waypoint types, WP radius, connections, flags C) Mabye a quick reference of all WP editor menus??? I haven't made up my mind yet... D) How to waypoint trickier elements like breakables, ladders, lifts, buttons The file I'm posting here for review is by far the biggest and most complex part, namely B). A is really just 2-3 quick paragraphs, plus I already have a prototype ready. C might not be necessary after all, since 90% of the stuf is covered in B anyway. And even if it is necessary, I already have all the gfx I need and would only have to add a few lines of text. D) isn't very long, either. Note: The zip contains the HTML document itself and a subfolder called 'GFX'. This folder obviously contains all screenshots needed to view the document in its glory *cough*. I have marked two or three spots where I wasn't too sure myself, you will see what I mean. Oh, and the document sports very basic and simple layout; this is not meant to show the looks of the final version, just the content, ok? ;) Please have a look at it and tell me what you think - did you see typos, errors and mistakes of any kind, does it work well with Mozilla, Netscape, Firefox and whatever browser you may be using, is it understandable? |

don't worry about making it work with browsers i'll fix em up and make it pretty :P b&c together is fine i don't think we should seperate them since they are almost one and the same thing maybe show some demo's or screen shots of how not todo stuff too??? like massive radius? :P @ D) how about maybe some demo's and stuff like of doing a map and maybe showing how bot's will react to stuff regarding wp's ??? |
Re: The New Docs
- B & C: Yes, I think that in the course of all the explanation, each and every menu and sub-menu is depicted at least once, the only exception being those "yes/no" choices when you delete or save. However, this belongs into the documentation as well, at least IMHO.
- D: Well, I'm not sure about demos... I think most things you could show in a demo can be easily explained with a few lines of text and some screenies. (That's what I'm saying now, but who knows... if I come to a point where I'm really lost, I might even make a demo, yeah.) I'm basically thinking about these docs as a manual, just like the original docs. A nice manual you can print, lay on your desk right next to the keyboard and leaf through while you are getting into that waypointing stuff. I printed CF's docs and often had a look at them when I started waypointing. You can't do that with demos... Oh, yes. I have a "Common Errors" doc in my folder! All that's missing are some screenies. I'm going to finish this doc, too, then! Ah, just btw: Why did you full-quote my reply? It was right above... many ppl here do that. Someone posts "I like fun maps like..." (and lists 20 maps or something), and right below someone posts "Me too" - but not after fully quoting everything above - beats me... ???:( |
Re: The New Docs
Can You add also to this new doc this description about auto add/kick bot?
http://forums.bots-united.com/showpo...4&postcount=31 Need change only one thing in that description - bot is automatically kicked not at the moment of joining a new player, but at the moment of entering the game by him. |
Re: The New Docs
8o OMG, this post is an entire instruction manual itself!
But of course you are right, this doubtlessly belongs to the documentation - fortunately for me, it's not a part of the waypointing documentation, though... :D |
I got bad newz
i was installing win xp sp2...and had a system crash :'(
.....and i hadn't backed alot of my stuff up (the docs was one of it) however since the old ones existed here @ BU i took them and am doing some minor fix up.:( i will release it next week in whatever unspectacular form it is just so this doesn't happen again, half of it has been brought upto scratch which is some good newz again i'm sorry for the delay! :'( hey splorygon i recommend you do a release 3 with the latest dll and remove anything thats old from filebase, ask pmb to remove his one too>? just so user's don't get confused |
Re: The New Docs
Heyyo,
@Huntkillas: it's not all a bad thing that SP2 failed, I heard a lot of programs stop working after installing it, even some microsoft ones!!! :o But that's probably if you just leave the built-in firewall on.. right now I'm not gonna risk it cause some games, like Halo, stops working after SP2 (there's a small side patch someone made to make it work, but I'd rather play it safe n' wait...) if there's a change in SP2 compatibility with programs, plz tell me, cause it's annoying how ever 2 hrs that stupid windows auto update thing pops up (I know I should turn it off, but I'm lazy :P) For your manual, I downloaded the full thing, Beta2 it's nice guys, I like the layout, very cool. ;) |
Re: The New Docs
The problem with SP2 is this - M$ included in his firewall default setting - "on with highest security". This means stop exchange any data between Your computer and its environment. Need only make lower this firewall security setting to get back few programs to work (this I heard - I don't use WinXP).

Re: The New Docs
Heyyo,
Hmm, ok, I hope you're right KWo, cause I'mma try SP2, cause I heard stuff like this too. I've seen a computer with SP2 on there, n' it seemed to change downloading too, which's odd cause it makes it harder to realise there's downloads waiting, caust a little bar below your navigation toolbar appears for a few seconds, n' if you miss it? you have to try downloading again. :P |
Re: The New Docs
Hmm k. The documents don't work at all. Even on IE.. and ya FF doesn't render frames but, it should work on IE.
//I never saw this thread till later but, I was gonna go ahead and do a new Readme file but, it was already started. If you guys need help with html or php.. just tell me. :D I am quite knowledgeable. |
Re: The New Docs
sorry but those docs are old..
the ones that will come with R3 will work with FF and IE... |
Re: The New Docs
Ok, thanks sPlOrYgOn. If you guys need help with it.. I can do it. :)
