BSP to Worldcraft
Is there some program (or way) to convert bsp's into worldcraft files? Thanks... Im looking to make a "mini" dust2. Anyway, for all you Xbox fans, I'm assembling a mapping team that will help my remodel cs_maimi for Xbox... You up to it?!

Re: BSP to Worldcraft
Decompiling is bad.
Decompiling is wrong. please ... do not decompile. |
Re: BSP to Worldcraft
Jan van Paul (or whatever, can't remember his name exactly), the author of Gladiator bot for Quake2 has a program called "WinBSPC" which can do this job. But since the botepidemic.com is down, this program is nowhere to find - anyway you can search google for it. Hope you can find it.
Note: You had better not decompile the original maps included with Half-Life. |
Re: BSP to Worldcraft
theres a much better decompiler than WinBSPC and I think it was released in Janurary this year...
I would tell you where to get it and what it's called but I think decompiling is wrong too... |
Re: BSP to Worldcraft
With winBSPC it was often faster to rebuild the map on your own rather than decompiling it.
New better tools are out, decompiling is still wrong to some extent though. I believe in that you wont rip another authors work and that you will remember to give proper credit. bsptwomap. |
Re: BSP to Worldcraft
Please dont think that I will use a decompiler to "steal" great custom maps and make them mine own. (Though, it is tempting) I wont to make levels like cs_miniassualt. I need the decompiler to decompile the original CS maps-the one that I bought. :K Anyway, I respect alot others people work, and wouldnt steal them. Even if I did-wich I wont-decompile a custom map, I would give all credit to them in the read-me and all credit somewhere along in the map. I do understand "decompiling is wrong" and I respect your decision to protect your own maps by not telling me the names of decompilers... but you can trust me!

Re: BSP to Worldcraft
good thing that guy didn't give the decompiler's name clearly....
:D hope you can find it :P |

Re: BSP to Worldcraft
The only real good reason to decompile something is to learn how to do stuff. It can also be good if you need to modify a map to work with updated mods, like DoD 1.0. In that case you should only recompile entities only.
It can also be used as a reference to clone a map. For example, remember pull for TFC? Someone decompiled it as a reference to make his map es_pull! for Counter-Strike. However, this is STEALING. In his case it was probably OK. He gave credit. Also, you should definitely not decompile, modify brushed, then recompile, because of the way BSP works. It will cause a lot more polygons. |
Re: BSP to Worldcraft
