Filebase Problem

Alright i have tested this for a while now..
it seems that any file in filebase.bots-united.com/uploads cannot be downloaded by windows..
I can download with Linux mainly Firefox and Konqueror and Mozilla.
on windows I cannot download with Internet Explorer, Mozilla, or Firefox.
They all just redirect me to the index of the filebase.

Re: Filebase Problem

Well, I dunno about uploads, but with downloads I used to have the same problem (Win98SE, Opera 7, IE 6) - I always got redirected to the filebase index.
It took me some time to find out what caused the problem (in my case, at least):
I had the option "remember me?" enabled and kept the bots-united cookie all the time, so I didn't have to login manually every time. Then I read something about having to logout and login again - so I deleted the cookie, unchecked the "remember me?" option and went here again... Then Opera started bitching around a bit (I couldn't log in anymore at all), but that was my bad. As soon as I had solved that problem, I logged in, reactivated "remember me?" and voilą - now it works.
I hope this is of any help for you - if not, I'm sorry; I don't know what else could cause this problem. Especially since with Linux it seems to work better...

Re: Filebase Problem

yes TWrecks is right, your cookie needs to be cleared and re-issued.
also you will get redirected to the index each time a 404 error is detected, theses errors are issued when you try to download a file without the filebases download page (i.e. direct linking).

/edit
to upload you must be loged in to the forum or the filebase and klick on
"Member Control Panel " -> "File Management" -> "Add File"
edit/

cheers

Re: Filebase Problem

i didn't say anything about uploading....
I'll try clearing my cookies
[edit]
no wonder...
my firewall was taking out the "Referer:" in my headers 9_9
I got it to work now :D

Re: Filebase Problem

Damn, I still have the same problem! It worked after I cleared the cookie, but now it doesn't. I guess I'll have to clear the cookie every f*cking time I wanna access that filebase! Excuse my language, but that really pisses me off big time.
What am I doing wrong here? Win98 SE, Opera 7, Java on, JavaScript on, Cookies on, URL-referer on, automatic redirect on, Firewall off...
For a paranoid like me, those are horrifyingly low security settings (not that I needed them here), but it still won't work. Since it's working for others, I suppose the problem is somewhere on my side. But I'll be damned if I know where... Onno, please?

Re: Filebase Problem

Ok, ok... FORGET MY POST! My bad. It WAS Opera - gotta update finally... and try if it works with the most recent version.
Sorry for bitching around before thoroughly testing...

n.p.
i *know* there tricky browsers:
my mozilla today stopped working with the forum, i could not make any posts, the white edit windows stays brown/background and there is no place to type anything .....
so i tried to use opera 4.02 for posting, which did not allow me to press submit or preview, so i re-used mozilla, cleared the cache and now it works 8D

cheers

Re: Filebase Problem

I really dont know what all the browser issues are from.

I use FireFox and Internet Explorer on my WinXP box and Internet Explorer and Safari on my MAC box and i really havent ever had any problem like that, or at least not one that wasnt obviously a cache / cookie problem ... hmmmm

neways good that everything is sorted out.
