author name
can we add a thing called "wp author" which displays the authors name.....sometimes we miss it because of the vis table running and otherwise just missing it is easy......
just an idea |
Re: suggestion for pod2.6mm by PMB
wasn't that displayed on the hud in nice red letters ?
|
Re: suggestion for pod2.6mm by PMB
for me its gray and last about 2 seconds and is covered by no visibility messages(rebuilding). and sometimes you just miss it.....doesnt have to go in ! just a comfort option

Re: suggestion for pod2.6mm by PMB
In CS 1.6 you need to be "spawned" into the HL server (i.e, not browsing any selection menu) for the waypoint message to display. This message was formerly a fading blue message that lasted 3-4 seconds and was displayed at each round start, but people complained that it was too visible and annoying, that's why I put it back like the way it used to be with POD-bot 2.5. Is it really that annoying ? When the visibility table is built and once it's saved to disk, you will see your beautiful name in the center of the screen, SF, I promise, don't panic. :)

Re: suggestion for pod2.6mm by PMB
REALLY, we should also display a version number with the waypoint to keep things organized and professional. We coud sacrafice 2-3 characters in the author's name to keep backward compatibiltiy if we had to...
|
Re: suggestion for pod2.6mm by PMB
or we could just get the version number that is in waypoint header structure and show it along with the author's name :D
|
Re: suggestion for pod2.6mm by PMB
no, this we can't.
That version number field in the waypoint header structure is here to tell the difference between POD-Bot 2.0, 2.4 and 2.5 waypoints. The waypoint format has changed a lot since POD-bot 2.0, and the bot has the ability to convert any old waypoint format to the new one ; that's why this variable is needed. |
Re: suggestion for pod2.6mm by PMB
how about raising it from centermass so its not over the visibility table reading.....which still overrides the authors name.
i think i had really asked for this because i have done so many waypoints its hard to kee track of which ones are mine.......so when i go to do a map for this new 2.6mm, i have to see whos it is.......i have well over 1000 pwf's in my default. sometimes my own waypoints get overwritten by my map installer and i need to know if i am redoing MY waypoint or not. :) but really......its no big deal to wait for the visibiblty table to finish calculation.....and then changelevel again...then you definately see it :) |
Re: suggestion for pod2.6mm by PMB
We can't display it elsewhere. We have no access to the way the client DLL displays text. When we tell it to display some text at the center of the screen, it displays it here and not elsewhere.
We can display text only at 3 locations: - on the upper left corner (echo from the console) - in the center of the screen - in the player chat area The other way to display text is to use that glowing text effect which is much more complicated to put to work. |
Re: suggestion for pod2.6mm by PMB
but you are reffering to txt style ones, not the colour hud ones
|
Re: suggestion for pod2.6mm by PMB
player chat area would be good as u can display it longer...and as fancy as u want..and it won't bother people who don't want to see it
also i never see it in console so can it be displayed there too. |
Re: suggestion for pod2.6mm by PMB
right.....having it in the console is the answer !
thats solves it right there |
