Re: [CZ] Changing model directory "on the fly"?

Almost there but the replacement model name in the config _MUST_ match the folder in "models/player".
For example, sas=ct should be sas=de_piranesi_cz_ct.

Config file reading is done, hopefully I can finish this thing tonight and send out a test version for you to play around with.

Yeah, it's really hot up here too - that air conditioner was the best thing I ever bought :)

[Added]
No, models and sounds take up the usual paths that were set before.
It's only player models that require special handling.

So, to change hostage.mdl its still easy as putting a replacement in models/cs_assault/

Right, I'm with you now :)

Good good!! I look forward to having a play with it.

Cheers for now

PS - Off to make myself hotter now by slaving over a hot frying pan!

Got it working!
Heres the proof that this thing actually exists.

Test version coming soon, gotta clean up the code a bit.

Nice work Lazy.

I could only test this on my listenserver ( turned the bomb into a chicken on de_nuke :)), but it should work.
Compiled for win32 only as I don't have the resources to do a linux compile right now.

Nice one Lazy!!

i tried it quickly before I had to dash out for work this morning. Seems to work a treat. I'm going to put it through it's paces later :)

Just a quick n00b question for you...

By specifying 10 models (in my example above), does this mean that it actually precaches 10 models to memory (i.e. replacing sas, militia etc) or does it only precache the equivalent of 2 models (i.e. the ct and t variant)?

If it is the former, I will have to use minmodels and only precache leet and gign... but it'll still work fine!

Re: [CZ] Changing model directory "on the fly"?

Nah, HL will not precache something more than once.

Hey you are right (of course!!)

It really works well. I have set up all of my CZ maps so they behave just like they would be in the XBox version...

The hostages work nicely too, providing you roll back to a "pre-emotional hostages" mp.dll :)

Here are a couple of screenies....

Lazy... you are a genius...thanks a lot :D

Lazy... this is great :)

I even have my Tour of Duty set up so it uses your addon, works an absolute treat!!

Environskin used to do a similar thing, but it used the botprofile.db to do the same so all of the models were precached whent he game started, not when the map started, so it gave a few errors on bigger maps.

I am considering releasing a pack of skins so people can do the same, would it be okay to package the addon with it, or should I just link over here? (That's if I could find the space!)

Cheers for now
