I think the CZ bot is pretty good. I havent tried the newer bots for CS, but it can for sure compete with Podbot 2.5.
Ahh, so that is where TheFatal went. Does anybody know what Killaruna is doing? Parabot was the best bot ever. |

Zee "Official CS bot" (Z-Bot) eez not dumbest bot ever :).
PodBot no better than Z-Bot. As well as ZB no better than PB. They're just different... ZB sucks at nade-bada-boom-management but owns at team tactics (comparing to PB at least). My first experience with ZB was right after 3-4 sleepless nights (in a row) of CS-inet-warfare. Well, anyway, first map was de_dust. I was amazed. ZBots rushed to that T corridor and made bloodbath there! Like human players yesterday night! Then i saw how CT's guard dropped bomb, radioing about how many T's left, T's defending bomb carryer, etc - they really tryed to fulfill the mission goals. Never saw that kinda thing in PB... Only after that i saw their godlike accuracy, xpert nade suicide-ability, flaws in auto-nav-gen proc (most of wich btw can be fixed by editing nav-mesh)... All-in-all ZB was done as a "monster" for an average player (a noob actually, who's want to just to be entertained). To make MP game playable in single-player mode. It's an entertainer, again for an average player. And it actually do that quite well. It was NOT designed to simulate human player behavior or to be an ultimate killer AI. Its just a monster... |

i believe the way how the zbot (or official csbot) makes it 'more real' is by communicating... the voices and such make it feel like they are actually doing lots of stuff. And, perhaps they do so, but i was not really blown away. :)

yes, communication in third party bots is still a problem, although pierre also did some voice stuff in his RACC. I'm trying to use some kind of translation from the normal squad commands to radio messages, so that the user "sees" more of the communication going on.
It's like with HL1 ... the unability to throw grenades - a marine throwing a grenade near to himself just yelled "holy shit", nobody complained, everybody said it was cool :) so communication is quite an important step, even the chat functionality of some bots appears somewhat useful to the average user. |

I used Botmixer once and put HPB bot against POD bot. HPB got owned.

it makes me laugh when people still talk me about the "l33t team tactics" of my first RACC... which had strictly none :D
The bots were just yelling pre-recorded voice samples on occasion (when they encountered a new enemy, for example) but were prolly unable to act as a real team :) |

Yea CS:CZ Official Bot not really good !, but the CS 1.6 BETA Official Bot is much better ! The CS 1.6 BETA Official Bot is better!, not for combat behavior but only for scenario gameplay, on the cs_maps the CT's always force to rescue the hostages and then force to bring them to rescue zone*/^, half of T's camp near hostages and the other half roaming around. T's always know when hostages is being taken so they instanly move to the important; chase the CT's with hostages or strongly camp* at rescue zone - mostly in every round !. CT's with hostage will always avoid crouch & Ladder* area, they never leave* the rescue zone till all the hostages that following has been rescued. on de_maps the CT's can defuse the planted bomb at mid-high standalone crates**/^^ (de_dust2) from below!. this accuracy gameplay and move only on CS 1.6 BETA Official Bot, not on CS:CZ Official Bot !. Dunno why the latest is the worst so far. I mean CS:CZ Official Bot is not worth (yet) to be included as a commercial product. >Buy CS:CZ only for your CS collection or -to show respect to CS Makers, nothing more.. *) weak on CS:CZ **) not work on CS:CZ ^) tips for PODBot and clone's user: when creating new waypoints set the Goal WP and the Important with start number; example Goal 1 (node nr.0), Goal 2 (node nr.1), Rescue point (node nr.2) etc. Bots returning to "node nr.0" as there id for compatibility with HLstats software. so this will results fast scenario gameplay. ^^) tips for PODBot and clone's user: be sure to place the Goal WP on top of the standalone crates which is have jumpin' chain from other object, then open podbot.cfg, set TIMERPICKUP to higher value ex: 3.0 or above (depend on your CPU speed), for YaPB user you can set this on the fly at console just type yapb_timerpickup x.x, change this setting to higher will make the bots not see the bomb for a while so he will concentrate to finish jumpin' chain to the Goal WP then defuse the bomb, and remember be careful with the value. |
