OK heres what i am doing now:
I have found out that most of my code would work if cut and pasted in an STL String Class. But i am doing this in a better way, cutting and pasting the STL Class into my code, thats way shorter :D. NOW have i made it attractive?

Re: Strings In United Bot

copying and pasting classes ?! that doesnt sound object oriented at all :D

why not just inherit that class and extend it with your custom replace functions

Re: Strings In United Bot

Could someone tell me why I have the feeling this discussion has come out of hand already ?

IMO C++, algorithms, classes, and extra features should be used because they are useful, not because they are cool.

Is a custom string class with such advanced features a great need of the United Bot ?
And why wanting us to use your class at all costs ?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to offend anyone. I just wonder the point of all this. Writing a good string class is cool. But isn't it far beyond the use the United Bot could make of one ?

Magnus, if you want to be of some help to the United Bot, I'd advise to familiarize yourself with 3D engines, client/server relationships, FPS game physics, entity systems, navigation algorithms... hacking the HL1 SDK and one of the open-source bots out there may be a good start for you. Once you know better these, you can hop in in the discussion about how we will implement this multi-game bot according to the goals we have settled with.
