Re: USA to legalize spam by january 1st
I must laugh...I'm not sure where the idea of SPAM got started, but ours is way down. Pres. Bush's last law he signed so threatened the spammers that they backed down far enough for american business to regain a foothold. Even if this 'can spam' goes thru, it will be with restrictions including a do-not-spam list like our FCC just upheld. The american people are just as fed up with spam as the rest of the world, but thanks to (I hate to say it) the Republicans, spam slashing has made my company stock (RRDONNELLEY publications and catalogue mailings) go WAYYYY up and we are getting contracts left and right thanks to it.
Again, I cannot say that my views are more accurate than yours, but being a native of USA, I think (or at least hope) that the president realizes that ALLOWING spam would seriously jepardize his re-election. I doubt that he will sign the 'law' without utter contention and conditions... |

As added incentive, here is a man in Washington using the law to better himself...

Re: USA to legalize spam by january 1st
I side completely with the guy! The more we harass those buggers the more chances there are that they finally stop it.. besides, 90% of all the spam comes from a known list of 200 people who are known spammers (the ROKSO list, according to SpamHaus.org) - so the victims know who to target back.

Re: USA to legalize spam by january 1st
All it's gonna take is a p*ssed off 15 y.o. from Norway or some country other than USA who is tired of being spammed to hack these SPAMjackoffs and teach them a lesson they never forget, like getting into their customers records that support their illegal operations and prosecuting/perscecuting THEM. Look at the 15 year old and that whole DVD thing. That kid was SCARY smart.
Maybe someone someday will hack THEM so badly that they finally give up spamming. Or better yet, put the advertisers themselves out of business first, then a few D.o.S. attacks (if they ever become legal) against the spammin bastards will keep them at bay...yah..it's only a matter of time until the wrong people get angry. It's a shame that the D.o.S. is against the law and you get in major serious BUKU trouble. Lucky for me that I'm a law abiding citizen and would never support, affiliate, or otherwise tarnish my integrity by showing any type of connection to these hackers. As a very large company found out when a spokesperson insulted teenage hackers by calling them 'script-kiddies' in an IRC channel, they weren't just that, but rather high tech young thugs with a mission. RULE OF THUMB...NEVER piss off the little guys, because eventually we need them as our friends...And as the company found out quickly, these guys armed only with a few IRC bots, a few ping scripts, and people with broadband was all it took to bring them to their knees... It's actually scary when you think about it. As I recall the guy sort of apologized in a channel, and the DoS stopped. It was utterly amazing...If I had that kind of brains, I would be working for the gov't. Well, or the highest bidder anyways.. (grin) Donnelley |
