Which is better though, buffered or unbuffered? What exactly does it do?

buffered is kinda like ECC it it just another checker... this is only required for AMD 64bit processor... it will work with anything but if you don't have a 64 bit processor and the ECC/Buffered is more exspensive then just get the NON ECC... if the ECC/Buffered is less then get that

Yo, sorry to hijack your topi, Whitman, but I'm gonna put 1024MB of RAM in my computer. I already have 512MB installed (DDR). Which is best, another 512 or to take that one off and put 1 of 1024?

isnt that also a money issue

you have to check if your chipset supports dual channel ram. then 2 ram modules of the same type are an advantage, otherwise it's just an issue of slots
