actually you just can't patch the server.dll file if you are using Steam as Steam will just restore it when the game starts :)

HL2 is Valve's proprietary software. If you don't use it in Valve's desired way (i.e., make non-steam version, crack the cd check, patch to enable bots, etc), Valve will just call you as a "thief" or "pirate".

As You know it's illegal - did You read this?

http://www.bots-united.com/member-rules.php
I mean point (paragraph) 9.

Please - me more careful when You are posting something, because a lot of memebers here were warned/banned because of breaking exactly this point of rules. This time You probably didn't break yet the rules, but You were close to do it. When You showed this info - some people may start to search for some cracks for CSS. It's not good for our forum You posted this info here. :(

@Stefan... ;)

Edit: Kwo posted that a moment before I posted mine, so I didn't see it. I'll pipe down now.

yes, i know that when you change the server dll in that way (cracking, etc) it is illegal. Though, lets give you this example:

you buy a game (so its legal, in that way)
you do something with it to add some functionality
you have your fun
nobody knows
nobody cares... ;)

I don't say its LEGAL to do so, but i say to this person, that if he wants to continue his actions i cannot persue him for this, we do not encourage it, but we cannot dissallow users to do with software as we want them to do. Ie, you can't possible check everybody's behaviour with their software.

So, in short:
- what he does is not legal
- we cannot do anything about it (its beyond our control)
- we do not encourage him to continue his illegal activities
- we gave him the info he needed

case closed ;)

Server dll can be patched. AS i did (do!) with realbot with the liblist.gam in CS 1.6 (which gets overwritten as well, each time)... you simply make it read-only!

Seems - we supported him a bit in something illegal then... ;)
I hope PMB will not read this. :D

Heyyo,

Well, he's not entirely at fault, cause it's at the internet cafe he goes to. But since he decides to play with those illegal bots, he's not trying to avoid them...

I thought the only way that what he's doing would truly be immoral was if he ASKED where to get the illegal bot (either Zbot or the official CSbot for CSS). So far he hasn't done either, just give us thoughts.

All we did was support the thoughts he already had that the bot at that internet cafe's the illegaly modified server.dll CSbot, and why it is so. We diddn't do anythin immoral, if anything, we did him a small service. So don't worry dude, we ain't mad at you or anything, we just want you to know the truth is all. ;)
