I just went back to Steam last night so that I could play Zombie panic. It was indeed bearable, after I fixed some stupid things that Steam still does like load itself at startup.

Thanks for the replies guys. So source is the name for the actual game engine used huh?

That kinda sucks how we HAVE to register HL2 with steam, what if we don't use netplay, is steam activation required to even play the SP campaign?

Heyyo,

I believe so dude. Pretty weak eh? I guess valve is just paranoid with pirated copies of the game... let's just hope that other new games don't follow this stupid trend...

Yeah, the Source Engine, not a very good name eh? cause usually when you hear source on the net, that means source code... guess they couldn't think of a better name. :P

HL2 will be pirated regardless of the Steam activation, it just means it'll be a bit more of a challenge for the groups that release pirated games.

i used to be a Steam Promoter.. then after a while, became a steam hater... now i'm somewhere in the middle lol

I've had no real problems with stability, tbh, its never crashed for me.

Its generally fastish, it has its moments though.

I suppose my main gripe with it, is that you have to restart steam to add items, if mods are added, you gotta restart steam before it even thinks about downloading the files :/

Pain in the ass in general, it could be perfect, but still, it cant be much worse. The Steam IDEA has merit, just the implementation is awful
