Re: Counter-Strike : Source
Since I have a "way old" box, I'll post my specs:
PIII 1Ghz; 256MB RAM ATI 9100 clone (PCI) 64MB Windows2000 Pro SP4 might I add, these specs are under the minimum requirements... Video Stress Test: @ 640 x 480 / medium eye-candy: an average of 57.6532 fps damn good I thought! I didn't think it would even run on my box, much less be playable... If you know how to tweak your fps, you shouldn't have a problem. |

I ran the beta of HLČ (typo, I swear ;)) on my Duron 1.3 w/ 256 MB of PC133 and a GeForce4 MX440-SE I now play CS:S on the following:
My VST results (1024x768 MAX Quality) were about 82 FPS. |
Re: Counter-Strike : Source

Re: Counter-Strike : Source
yes. even my crappy laptop nowadays can run it... with my Geforce 5200 Go i think i can handle DX8.. DX9 would be a pain in the ass though.

Re: Counter-Strike : Source
Heyyo,
@nightscream: *coughs* -I removed the link due to legalities- get extra maps there made by fans! *coughs* ;) One part that sucks aboot CS source beta the most is the physics on the objects. Like, at the CT spawnsite, I ran along the ledge, n' I got knocked off by a bucket... a bloody bucket! lol... So yeah, that blows bigtime.. hopefully in the retail version you won't "bounce" off any objects. :P The bots seem to just boot them outta the way... One part that saddens me is the animations. Now, I bet a lot of you guys sthink "these animations are better." But they feel more like, a run n' gun actor animation, n' you seem to run alot faster... so that doesn't help much on the tactical side... |
Re: Counter-Strike : Source
that's illegal stuff right ?
Please don't post links to illegal stuff here, MarD. Our rules forbid it. Since I'm not sure whether it's illegal or not you won't be given a warning, but take care. We need to apply the same rules to everybody... *edit* well, it appears clearly it's cracked warez. Sorry MarD... but you aren't allowed to post links to warez stuff here. One warning for you. :( |
Re: Counter-Strike : Source
Heyyo,
Sry PMB, Yeah, half of that site's illegal, but the part for maps ain't really, cause that's user created maps... if there was a diff site, I'd use it, but for now that's the only site I know for CS Source fan-made maps... [EDIT] Oh, just read around looking for a more legal link, n' turns out any maps made for CS: Source are illegal cause they used the map creators of the leaked HL2 beta... I'mma post no more links concerning this until I'm absolutely sure they're legal. :P |
Re: Counter-Strike : Source
VALVe wanted beta testers to only play on de_dust for the beta, user made maps will not report back propper gameplay statistics to VALVe. It seems there must be some sort of in game development mode in HL2 to make the maps. Also Source comes out this week, before HL2 so I gather there shouldn't be any custom maps until HL2 is officially released.

Re: Counter-Strike : Source
We could always try to hack the new format and make our own compile tools before the test ends, but I am too lazy.
Anyway, someone I know made a legal tool to mod Source maps. I shared the data with him I found with him from a thread here. I turns ot there is a pointer in the file to the entity lump and the size next to that. I told him he should make his software move the entity lump to the end of the file. You can get it here-> http://www.geocities.com/sysys/ented/ Also works with HL1. Anyway, if you decide you DO want to hack the HL2 BSP format, you can get help here -> http://forums.qhimm.com There are some talented hackers there. And by hackers, I mean guru coders who can decipher file formats. |
