they can still have Cheating Death, and write some sort of metamod plugin that will discard connexions based on IP, hostname or subnet. Not as efficient as a WONId ban, but that's a start :)

Yeah, I was sure this link's not illegal. There was a link to that steamless project site, but I know a heckova lot of stuff there's illegal, so I found a more legal link just to be safe. ;)

I for one bought CS. I say, hey, this game's great, it's worth my money... But I should've just bought HL. It was cheaper (CS was $40 canadian, HL was $20..) and it also included the whole HL campain, n' I could've just downloaded the CS Mod version... oh well... too late now I guess. Just a heads up for the rest of you guys! 9_9

I bought the CS retail version at a small warehouse where I live, and I got it really cheap. About 9 Euros, i.e. approx. 10 US-$ at the current exchange rate. What was even more astonishing was the fact that it was not the normal (=censored) German version, but an 18+ version that was 100% identical to the US version. And all that in our tiny old suburb warehouse...o_O

Anyway, bought is bought. That's why I don't feel bad for avoiding Steam. It's good to see that there are more and more projects on their way. Afaik, things like these never happened during the WON era - this ought to give Valve something to think about... but I reckon they're beyond the Styx in that respect. 9_9

LOL... I fear that's not very probable. The company it belongs to is in serious trouble currently and wants to close or sell all its smaller warehouses, although not all of them make a deficit. The one where I kive belongs to those that continuously deliver profits, but it will probably have to close nonetheless. :( The usual story: First they buy everything and go from one merger to another, and then, when everything starts to go down the drain, there's a "re-orientation towards the core business"... overpaid morons.

Noooo..... need to find cheap source to get HL2. Me bud was at a lan party (LANcouver) n' they sold some HL2 vouchers for $40 canadian... n' he diddn't pick me up one! I should've knocked him out on the spot n' took his, lol. :P
