well, but I don't like the word "theft", I would prefer the phrase "copyright infringement", since Valve haven't "lost" any of the source code, they still have all the source code; it's just copied illegally.

and of course the infringement is wrong and should be punished because it will be unfair to Valve if their work can be copied as anyone wishes, but I don't think it worths a damnation like that.

Very good point.

I doubt these people will ever get a fair trial. Any confessions should be taken with a grain of salt considering how confessions are being extracted these days.

if you listen in hl2 communities. and compare to what we says here.. we are on the hackers side..

simply because we are a little open minded then the fourteen yearolds at those communities that just like.. "great let them suffer in jail".. "hope something bad happens in there.." i remember one saying... "when hl2 comes im going to go to jail and show them my copy"

really mature..

Heyyo,

Lmao@ sgt pain :D Yeah, and it's a crime for gas taxes too dude...

And yeah, I read about those arrests. I bet they just got a copy off the net, and got tracked by valve somehow.

And yeah, not only are source code copying going on, but beta versions of games. HL2 beta, Doom 3 Alpha, Far Cry Beta, Painkiller Beta, etc. Yeah, lots of games nowadays are gettin' ripped off before they even hit the shelves, it's just insane eh?

Anyone remember the hackers movie? Well, they made a sequel to it, the aply named "Hackers 2." That got hacked, and copied, and they never released an official version of it. You can still download that movie off the net, but don't expect to see it in a video store...

Heyyo,

Lol, yeah, euro trip's a good movie, I say it's worth the buy. Once I get some cash, I'll probably get it. :)

Speaking of bootlegged movies, in the philippines, it's like copyright infringement doesn't exist. Black markets everywhere that sell pirated stuff, lol, I saw a music one, right outside of a music store! lol, wow, wonder how the business was at that poor legal place. :P

And at movies? jesus, I had a hard time walking down the isles, damn camera's n' tripods everywhere.... How they do it is they get 1 or so family members to go to the theaters, tape it, and bring it back to show their families. They don't release them, and they tend to tape over the same tape for the next movie, so it's like temporary pirating... heh, too bad we're not alloued to do that eh? 8)

how come I never heard about this ?
never seen that in the french media... not that I trust them, anyway, but I'd thought it would have made some noise...
