Re: Little advertising

lol. Well the demo you downloaded is probably the least-playable. Did you try the one at http://arrakis.dune2k.com ? (version 0.92). Its a lot more playable, but has no intro.

Also, the version (demo) you saw (with intro) is even not the one i am talking about. I am completely rewriting it and its looking very nice so far. And its very nostalgic. No new stuff, just nicer gfx, here and there a bit more fancy gfx and sound (MT32 sound blaster recorded music as MP3) etc. I just want to relive the dune2 experience, but then in a more modern/nicer looking way ;)

Yeah I guess its wine...though its pretty weird :)
What are you using for graphics/input/sound? DirectX? Or dos interrupts? :P
If you use something like OpenGL for graphics porting shouldn't be too hard.

i use a library: Allegro. Which supports Windows, Dos, Mac, Linux, etc.

I don't know if it will compile straight away on a linux machine, but if someone wants to help me with it when the time is there, i'd be glad ;)

Ow also beta-testers are needed. :)

VLC is a free cross-platform media player.

It supports a large number of multimedia formats, without the need for additional codecs
It is available for almost every OS
It needs little CPU power

VLC can also be used as a streaming server

VLC can use a large number of input devices
It features extended streaming features (video on demand, on the fly transcoding, ...)
Note: If you want to try this (especially if you are using Windows), download it quickly as if a (stupid) proposed law (which may put a ban on free software) get passed in France this project will likely to be dead.
