USB stick - since i can't use floppy's for years now (no disk-drive!) and its way faster, more room to store stuff on, etc.

For the unenlightened, a Bile Demon is from the Dungeon Keeper series. It's a big-blobish-thing that has no legs, uses its arms to slide around, and attacks with the spiked balls attached to its horns. Oh, it can also be useful in the workshop building you doors & traps. :)

For me? that's my fav rts series EVER. Sry C&C, nothing is as entertaining as slapping the crap outta people who win the jackpot so I can steal money back, and then cast Horny to unleash pain on everything. And who couldn't forget this great past-time: Making bridges into the middle of a huge gathering of lava, dropping an imp or two (or three..) and then selling the bridge out from under them... I'mma naughty Keeper. ;)

but for licenses I would choose GNU GPL, as it not only defends freedom, but also has some pragmatic advantages over proprietary software developers to make them a little bit difficult to compete with the other side.

Windows. Its buggy, insecure, bloated, expensive, and closed-source, but its compatability with games is unbeatable.

I've been told that Wine isn't all that great, so I've never bother with *NIX and have always stuck with Windows. I'm not a developer, I'm a gamer.

As for the ATI question: Ati drivers are allright, no worse than Nvidia's, but its Ati's control panels that are the problem.

Their latest ones are severely crippled. They give MUCH less functionality than old versions, such as no more Smart Gart control.

Also, to make it worse, it requires an active connection to the internet so it can phone home. If it doesn't get one, it doesn't even load. It just patiently sits hidden away in memory until it can get one.

I use Ati's drivers, with Omega's control panel. Works brilliantly.

Nvidia drivers aren't very good actually, the new ones are crap with HaloPC. Lots of people not getting the special effects from PixelShader v1.4 such as translucent active cammo (but just faded guys), some even have texture problems, and some even don't see any characters or doors! Ati's past few drivers did suck for HaloPC (after catalyst v4.5 they sucked) but catalyst v5.2 are great. I get preformance boost using pixel shader v2.0, even faster than on pixel shader v1.4! My framerates have increased in all games, so gj ati. Don't use that darn controller suite, just use the display drivers and the display control center like in previous viddrivers. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;)

"ati or nvidia?" - ATI, as nvidia requires proprietary driver in GNU/Linux to make the 3D acceleration work. ATI works straight in XFree86 AFAIK

Q3A bot. MUCH better. CSS bot's pretty good, but they suck really bad at nades, and how they just stand still in combat's not very human-like. Q3A bot puts up a great fight, and ain't cpu-intensive. ;)

Ahem yes, but this time does "proprietary" driver from nvidia seems much better than the free and open source driver for (and not from) ATI(which seems logical because nVidia puts actually some work in it).

With Cube its really easy to use map info, yet custom made waypointed maps seem nicer :(

well due to Cube's permissive-for-proprietary-developers-but-restrictive-for-free-software-developers license, I just don't even bother porting my bot (not YaPB) code to Cube, as that means I would have to release all my code under the same terms (which is what I don't want to). And I don't want to fall into the evil side (i.e. not to release the source code) either.
This flaw is serious, but not fatal, though.

I just hope your not serious 9_9 The reason I mentioned Cube was because you can do non-waypointed bots easily(no 1337 hax0ring), it was not trying to get another cube bot developer.
I still have to see a reason why PMB dislikes GNU and Whistler dislikes BSD
