Hi, I have a doubt with mean 6.00
I have the following metamod plugins:
metamod latest
latest release of pdbotmm
latest release of realbot
AMX mod latest
and warcraft 3 frozen throne.
Everything works fine (mean is loaded and operational) , but I do not know what is causing the bots on the CT side to kill each other. Is this some kind of command that I have missed?
FYI, I have not added anything to the coonfiguration apart to grant me admin rights.
Any help on this?
Thanks
botmeister

Are you trying to run both realbot and podbot at the same time?
I've never tried realbots and Podbots, might be kinda weird... obviously its not working... try WITHOUT realbots or try without PodBots

Hi,
it is not an error of Realbot making a conflict. I have deselected all plugins (only to have podbot) and it continues the same: CT keep on killing themselves.
Here is what I have:
Metamod 1.17.3.0
Mean 6.00

mEAn only works with podbot_mm version 2B46A or higher.
Also, are you using CS 1.5 as shown in your liblist.gam file?
miopalmo
03-03-2005, 11:05
Yeah,
that is the version I am using and I changed to 1.6 in the gam file, but no successss.
Maybe it is something of the configuration of the mean file that I have wrong, but I do not find such a file. Which file should I look at?
thanks
whats you meanmod command line?

Try turning off this setting:
m_botaimfix off
If that does not have any effect, try this
m_BotEnhance off
Let me know what happens.
Also show us your entire config file - be sure to remove anything that's private such as passwords, etc before posting.

This is my config file:
The only part I modified for mean is:
setinfo "mean_pw" "PASSSSSSWORD"

Actually, I was interested in the server.cfg file OR if you are running a listen server, the listenserver.cfg file .
Did you try changing m_botaimfix and m_botenhance settings?
miopalmo
04-03-2005, 22:03
hi,
I changed those values but I am not 100% sure if it brings something, the bots start to play-move (both of them), but then, start to go crazy trying to aim to something and tk.
What I notice is: of I join CT, the CT start to stay in same place, aim like crazy and tk. While the T team play right.
If I join the T viceversa.
I always play on listen servers with my bots, but I do not have such a file! listenserver.cfg. Should I create such a file?
What else should I do?
reinstall everything?

Instead of reinstalling everything, have you tried running CS with just podbot? We need to narrow down things to find out what may be causing the problem. at the moment, it could be mEAn or podbot or a screwy install of CS, or some combination of the three things.

I'm getting the same problem myself. It never started doing this for me until after I installed mEAn. I turned off the botaim fix and they still kept on killing each other. I myself play on just a listenserver. If anyone has a fix for this please lemme know.
keep mean installed but dis able it and see what it does then

Ok I think I may know what the problem is. It seems like that when there are breakable objects around (windows, bottles, etc...) the bots go crazy. Its really bad on maps like cs_bikini, penthouse2 de_deadlock and cs_rio. My roommate and I wonder if this is because the aggressiveness of the bots is increased due to mEAn. They don't seem to act this way when mEAn is disabled like robbob4 suggested. Is there a fix for this or is it just something I'm gonna have to live with?
Awesome mod btw. My clan buddies are considering using this as a trainer possibly. I'm still tryin to get some of them convinced that bots aren't badd to play agains.....but you know humans.
botmeister
26-03-2005, 07:21
Ah, you found the problem and it's with mEAn. I just looked through the source code, and even when BotAim is turned off, the bots can still target breakable objects and shoot at them.
I'll update the code later to resolve the problem. For a quick n dirty fix, try this CVAR setting:
m_botburstfirefix off
Let me know if turning off the burst firing solves the problem or not, that way I'll know for sure that I found the problem.
The only side effect is that the bots won't shoot as well with the burst firing turned off.

I'm still tryin to get some of them convinced that bots aren't badd to play agains.....but you know humans.
I find that there is no substitute for playing against humans, but playing against bots using mEAn is great for improving some skills, such as weapons usage and head shot aiming, etc. If you cannot beat the bots at their hightest settings, then you cannot beat good human players, it's that simple.
What I found worked great for me was to warm up by first playing against bots, then join up on a server against human players.
You can also use mEAn to enforce clan teams on an open server. This is great to have your clan teammates play together against non clan opponents without worrying about non clan members messing up the teams.
There's of course a lot more you can do.
