Hey guys I am wondering how I can install bots and which kind I need for Sven Co-Op. I have been doing alot of things with RCbot and I am not getting anywhere. Please can anyone tell me which bot is for Sven Co-Op and how to install? This would be very much appriceated.

I know how do to Pod-Bots but I don't think they are for Sven Co-Op, Btw Pod Bots own :D

I'm glad you're interested in SvenCoop, and RCbot with it. I too loved that, and that's why i even waypointed the whole HL1 Campaign for RCbot. :D

Hey mard, When I am trying to test the bots, The server host says, Host_error "<Map-Name> Not found on server."

Can you help me out man?

Heyyo,

Ah, I know, you're missing the HL1SP maps. You can either: A) Download them off the svencoop site (has less monsters, too easy IMO... http://www.svencoop.com/ ), or get them from your HL1 cd, or off a HL1 installation. There's some .bat files that can help you with this.

Oh, thats Single Player maps, I was trying to test the bots for MultiPlayer. I reinstalled Sven CoOp HLSP1 maps, didn't help :( , Well I'm trying to play online with bots :P

Heyyo,

Oh, are you joining servers? if so, the servers might not have it set where you can get the maps off them, if so, go to http://www.svencoop.com/ and download the maps from there.

If I'm mistaken and you're trying to host a ListenServer, make sure the map you want is in your maps folder. Just go into it (by default C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\*your e-mail*\half life\sven\maps\ ) and check the map you want from there, it should be named stuff like "c1a1.bsd". If you don't see the maps there you can try downloading them off the net, or by tring to reinstall svencoop... usually it should copy the maps ok, so you probably just need to download them off the net.

Heyyo,

Yes, the bot tends to not like ladders. Make sure you have the latest RCbot beta, cause with that it tends to do ladders better:

- Upgrade from v1.3 to v1.38 BETA: http://filebase.bots-united.com/index.php?action=file&id=205

Mard your being a big help :D

I didn't have Sven in C:/program Files/Steam/steammaps/ :P I didn't have sven there so I am copying it there right now :D I hope it works.

Hmm, what maps are you trying that have ladders folo? I've fine tuned many of the ladders, especially on the later levels... so far I've only done the official HL1 SP campaign for svencoop and not anyother maps... so if it's other maps you'll have to get them off the rcbot forums: http://rcbot.bots-united.com/forums/index.php

Me copying the files to the steam folders wasn't helping or changed anything. of course I have a burned version so that could be the problem. And I don't see how to play Single Player Maps. I dont' have a link to play SP when I start up Sven Coop. I sopose I have to buy the stuff :P

Ok, which maps in particular? (eg c2a5f... actually that map doesn't like RCbot at all...)

And yeah, you are running the latest version of RCbot right? cause v1.3 seems to not like my waypoints as much. If you can name me some levels, I can try to fix up those ladders better...

I just played hl1 thru the portal

It looks as if RCbot can't get EVERY SINGLE LADDER in the entire campaign....

Hmm, really? weird, cause on mine, I've sometimes had 2 bots go up the ladder side by side... I don't think you're on the latest version of rcbot dude......

Heyyo,

Well, I'm stumped then, cause I've got them workin' fine on my comp... try turning on waypointing mode, and check the waypoints. The one on the bottom of the ladder should be just a few inches away from the ladder, and a blue beam shooting out of it aiming towards the ladder, and the waypoint at the top of the ladder should be inside, or behind the ladder.. if not? go into the console, and type: nextmap ...usually it'll say what map you're on.. it usually doesn't know what the nextmap is, lol. :P

Heh, guess I should mention the command to turn on n' off waypointing mode:

rcbot waypoint

I'm pretty sure that toggles it on n' off, if not? type this:

to turn it on:
rcbot waypoint on

to turn it off:
rcbot waypoint off

he means you must type that in the console. You know how to use the console, right?

Heyyo,

Start up sven coop, go: options > keyboard > advanced > enable console

then, load up any map, and try to type this in the console (hit the tilda key (~) to activate the console): rcbot waypoint on

and that should activate waypoint mode, then read what I posted above..

ok......

the prob is they "sidestep" while climbing ladders

furthermore, they jump before climbing so if they fail, they won't climb.....

Sidestepping????? wow, weird... I've never seen them sidestep at ladders before...

I know they do that annoying jump thing, but I tried to wrap my waypointing around this bug, so usually they leap onto the ladders...

But yeah, please check those waypoints, and make sure they're aligned with the ladders like I said, cause if not, that could be your problem...
