I only recently discovered the bots-united forums. So I figured that while I was in the neighborhood, I'd stop by and say hello. You guys must be pretty busy these days now that 2.3 has been released. I'm still looking forward to Sturmbot 1.7 I'm actually quite excited about it.
I've been giving Shrikebot some thought lately though. I was wondering if it were possible to have both bots installed on the same machine? Or would something like that require a separate installation of steam?
Also, has anyone here ever heard of blitzbot?

Yup you can have both Shrikebot and Sturmbot on same steam installation just a couple of things have to be in place.

1) Make sure there is a Shrikebot and Sturmbot folder in your \Day of Defeat\dod folder.

2) You have to change your Launch Options for Day of Defeat to suit either Shrikebot or Sturmbot.

3)Make sure thers a Shrikebot.dll and a Sturmbot.dll in the day of defeat\dod\dll's folder (assuming sturmbot.dll goes there)

You can even make these 2 bots run at the same time if you use BotMixer :P

however installing BotMixer is not quite trivial...

Well now my interest is quite piqued. Where may more info on this mixolater be found? ???:(

Oh shoot! I almost forgot. I got Shrikebot installed and running properly. I must say, the trash talking was a pleasant suprise. You definately have a well rounded bot. I do have a few critisisms, if you would care to hear them. Overall though, I was quite impressed.

Well speaking strictly from my point of view that the ultimate bot will be indistinguishable from a human player:
I saw no grenades
When shooting bots in the back, they don't seem to react (veteran human players are generally aware of all around them)
Bots set up at guard waypoints seem to be there for life (this would be an excellent option for a waypointer, if they also had an option to have the bot just hold that position until backup arrived)
I would like to see the bots stick together, does formsquad work?
In keeping with the image of a human player, they might take the weapon (if it is better than what they have) of the player they just killed

I haven't really played with it enough to be certain that the above mentioned points are valid. If I have simply overlooked something, please forgive me. I do intend to play with Shrikebot much more. I really do like playing with these guys.

Played on a Shrikebot server today. The more I play with them, the more I like. Anyone mind if I dabble at waypointing? Looks similar enough.

Yes please do, we need waypointers. I have recently started dabbling with Shrikebot code to help Shrike out some and the other waypointer is off with real life.

We have decided to start a waypoint team, head on over to www.shrikebot.com (http://www.shrikebot.com) forums and check it all out.
