I wonder and ponder...

Some people say it works, but I never managed to get TortoiseCVS to work again.
It's not :pserver: anymore, it's :sserver: now (SSH).
Ask Onno for details. If I was the only admin on this server, I would not have set up things exactly as they are.
Been trying for a while with WinCVS, but having no success. I tried using 'psever' (set up as per here (http://forums.bots-united.com/showthread.php?t=2496), ie "pserver = sserver_protocol.dll" and module "realbot" etc) but all I got was an error response:
cvs [server aborted]: cannot make directory /home/bots-united.com/cvsroot/realbot/CVS: Permission denied
I tried setting it to SSH, but got another error:
cvs checkout: warning: unrecognized response `'"ssh"' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
' from cvs server
So no luck with WinCVS yet :'(. Of course I don't know a lot about using it, so if someone with more experience could experiment a bit it might yield some results.
In other words - help ???:(
[added] that vBulletin bug seems to have cropped up again

I will try it myself when i have time, probably tomorrow.
I used Tortoise CVS. WinCVS did not work for me
Just tried using tortoise CVS. Same error as above (no permission to create directory).
Any special settings I should have apart from the ones in the link in my post above?

Odd. It must mean the CVS is not set up right afterall. I don't know how to configure it, i had an URL but i lost it and i never got one again. I could edit user(groups) there. Perhaps something is wrong with the permissions or something.
Ok I've been playing about with tortoise CVS, and have found the following:
Working (accessible) CVS modules:
-CVSROOT
-metamod
-filebase
-meansrc
-podbot
-'root-bin'
Not working modules (inaccessible due to permissions thing mentioned earlier):
-realbot
-fritzbot
-wiki
So it would appear that after the server change some of the new (redone) accounts haven't been fully configured. This, however, is only a guess.
Hopefully it will be back in full operation soon so development can recommence...

Sigh. I reiterate my previous comments about moving the CVS to sourceforge.
Sigh. I reiterate my previous comments about moving the CVS to sourceforge. If we can actually get it in the first place.
Once the server has been reconfigured properly there shouldn't be any need to move to SF.

Yeah, but I've been hearing about how this is going to be fixed for two months now.
Yeah, but I've been hearing about how this is going to be fixed for two months now.
Well, in that case I think the question need to be asked "will it be fixed imminently, or is it not a priority?" and from that make a decision. Of course it's Stefan who needs to make this assessment since 1) its his and 2) he is in more regular [administrative] contact with the admins. Sourceforge may have its advantages, but I'm sure there are secondary considerations that need to be made.
As long as we can get something working it would be enough.

i do not master the server. Nor i have experience in setting it up. However, i have put a request on the administrative forum board so i hope someone can help me there. Its a shame, i had access with Putty or something. I could not set anything up there, but i could atleast access the latest source. I dont have it, so actually i am as much up-to-date and 'helpless' as you guys. I hope soon it will work again...
Stefan, its good that you've raised the issue as an administrative concern, since it will hopefully be treated more urgently.
Though the question still remains as to whether the admins can/will something about it. If we knew that they were actively working on a solution we could sit back and wait (as it were) until it has been resolved.
On the other hand, if we know that it is not going to be resolved soon, then it might be a good idea to consider alternatives, perhaps something along the lines of what minorgod was saying.
'Course this all depends on information we might not be able to get...

Actually i am stuck on this, because the latest source IS on the BU server. I cant reach it! If i want to use an alternative, i have to use the latest source.. :S
I did not get any response yet! Though my posts have been read around 14 times, lets substract 5 of my own.. it still leaves 9 other reads. I hope someone can help me, or guide me so i can atleast grab the source and do something about/with it.

I have e-mailed Onno. He mailed back that he will fix this problem soon (within a few hours). When there is more news you'll hear from me.
