CS bots

Well, you came to the right forum my friend! cause a lot of the bots here are CS bots. here they are:

1) YAPB (Yet Another PODBot)
2) PODbot v2.6mm
3) E[POD]bot (Enhanced PODbot)
4) IvpBot (Improved Version of PODbot)
5) Joebot
6) Realbot
7) RACCbot (The next release will be massive! can't wait! :D)
8 ) HPBbot

Ok, a small recap of my opinion on the bots:

1) YAPB: Well, if you want an easy one to install, I suggest YAPB. It's very stable, n' very good. The link's at the top of this page, but I'll post it here too cause I'mma nice guy ;)

Just point it to your CS directory, n' extract with folder names n' you'll be ok.

2) PODbot v2.6mm: It's also a great bot, but you need to install metamod n' stuff, so that's pretty hard. If you wanna try installing it, go for it man! I made a tutorial on my site. (http://www.freewebs.com/mard_lltd/)

3) E[POD]bot: a great bot that I helped waypoint, n' right now I hold the sourcecode for it, planning on passing it onto the next coder for E[POD]bot. His username's TheStorm. Hopefully he does continue it.. You can try it out, but the latest release is apparently pretty buggy.. hopefully they get fixed up. ;)

4) IvpBot: Another great bot. It hasn't beed updated in a while though...

5) Joebot: Ahh, this is a pretty sweet bot too, but I havn't played any recent releases, I read that they have very good grenade throwing abilities.

6) Realbot: I dunno, I've always had probs with this bot. It seems to hate me, lol. I liked v1.0 of it a lot though, it was fun. ;)

7) RACCbot: Shibby bot man, it's waypointless. And is pretty darn realistic. takes the meaning away from us waypointers, but that just means more time to play with the bots than plopping down waypoints every 2-5 steps. :P The next release is gonna be the best yet for sure, it's gonna show a lot of promise. :D

8 ) HPBbot: Now here's a classic bot. Almost every 3rd party bot for HL, n' HL mods was based on this bots template.. crazy eh?

ok i dled yapb and where do i extract all the files? C://sierra/counter-strike/half life??

Ok, tell me first, where'd you install CS? cause if you bought the retail version of CS (like, at a store inna box)

for retail, you install it into:
C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\

or is it running of Half life (this is called the mod edition) you install into:
C:\Sierra\Half-Life\

or if you're running it on steam, (CS v1.6) then it's here:
C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\*insert e-mail address here*\counter-strike\

just change the *insert e-mail here* to your steam e-mail.

ok, i dled http://yapb.bots-united.com/files/yapb.exe dont know if its the right one... then i extracted that to C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\*insert e-mail address here*\counter-strike\ since i want to run it on steam. and that where i am so far, now if i got everything right, how do i launch a game with bots?

Did you change the *insert e-mail address here* to your e-mail address? make sure you did. here's an example of mine:

C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\jagged_jimmy_j@yahoo.com\cou nter-strike\

Just start up CS, and then hit new game, n' pick a map n' what not n' start. Then, ingame, hit the p button, if nothing happens, hit the = button, one of those should bring up the bots menu. if that doesn't work, bring down the console by pressing the tilda (~) key, n' type: podbotmenu

if nothing happens after all those tests, then you might have installed it wrong, check it again.

but I would suggest you also download this one:

after install the yapb.exe file, just replace the original podbot.dll with the one in this zip

thats the folder my podbot.dll is in. does that path look correct?

No, I noticed that your installer Whistler adds the half-life folder to it.

Ok, cut the cstrike frolder from inside "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\NiKKa1324@excite.com\c ounter-strike\Half-Life\"

and paste it in:
C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\NiKKa1324@excite.com\c ounter-strike\

and let it overwrite any files, don't worry, it's safe. cause I just did it myslef, n' it doesn't seem to change too much, just the liblist.gam, you can back that up if you want just to be safe.

Np man! The only thing I ask is that it's a legal version of CS. Cause it's a great game n' is worth a monetary tribute. Since you're running it on steam, I'm guessing you've already done so. So now? just play man, play. ;)

don't download from the filebase. download from the homepage or the mirror at geocities.com instead.
