Hi guys,
I have Half-Life - Counter Strike 1.0. Can I update it to CS 1.6 PLAY ON LAN? If yes, can u describe me the exact procedure?
Thanks

goto www.steampowered.com (http://www.steampowered.com)
goto the "get steam now" section at top of page
download the steam cs file (144mb)
install it
ur old halflife and cs u can uninstall as this will get u all the games
You can also get the small version and start a new account, then add the CD-keys.

If I download this, i have to connect to internet every time to play CS 1.6? I want to play against bots. Also is it possible not to be steam?

first download the half-life and CS
then use gcfscape (http://countermap.counter-strike.net/Nemesis) to extract all the files from the half-life.gcf and counter-strike.gcf to the same folder
then you'll be able to run the HL directly, and run CS with "hl.exe -game cstrike"
if still have problems, search for filesystem_stdio.dll file in the Steam install dir and copy it to the HL main dir
as you already have the HL cd-key this shouldn't be so bad

also please download and install the M$ .net framework SDK before using gcfscape:

you're forgetting he'll need to extract the halflife engine.gcf and also download the dedicated server.gcf and extract filesystem_stdio.dll
Heyyo,
Well, if you download steam from www.steampowered.com (http://www.steampowered.com) you only need to longin once after being fully updated, n' then when steam tries to login it'll say: "error, cannot connect to steam." then just click "offline mode" and there you go, you'll never have to worry aboot logging online onto steam. ;)

or when u start steam make sure ur internet connection is disabled whiel it starts up then it will come up with a dialog box asking to retry or go offline
once ur offline u can use the net as u like
