sorry if this is a dumb question, but what exactly is the metamod? Is it like jumbot with it's own mod? Just curious.

metamod is something you install on your server, that sits between the Half-Life engine and the game DLL, kinda what a normal bot does, but it does this just to allow plugins to be hot-plugged in and out during the game. Metamod plugins can be of any sort, and can be written in exactly the same way as we write bot DLLs, and this allow plugin authors to do basically everything that can be done with a normal DLL for the Half-Life engine. You can plug admin plugins (like AMX or AdminMod), slap plugins, fun plugins, plugins that do cool visual effects in the game, bots, stats programs, IRC clients, mp3 players, lots of stuff. Metamod is really a neat thing for HL programmers, because a server can run an unlimited amount of DLLs at the same time, which was not possible using a normal bot DLL. You can have several bot DLLs running at the same time, for example.
