View Full Version : You like Wolfenstein 3D ?

you know, that oldie...

well if so I'm uploading something for ya (http://racc.bots-united.com/wolf3d.rar)

;)

these are my little improvements over the NewWolf project (which seems dead nowadays). It is NOT based on the WolfGL3D project source code, even if some features are now similar. I just borrowed them a few ideas and a good bit of artwork & 3D models.

Note that I'm done with it now. I've spent enough time on it already (about 1 month) and I have no time to finish a working netcode. Don't ask me for improvements - the source code is provided and I've made the todo list, so get your hands in it yourself :P

if the file looks corrupted that will be because it's not fully uploaded yet... please patient... I'm at 56k... it should arrive in a few hours :D

enjoy!

I found it. I'm special.

Edit: Sweet, I could get the original Wolf3-D to run on XP, but not with the sounds and music like this lets me have.

This was as far as I bothered to go, kind of glitchy as you said it'd be. I like the sound of netcode though. It'd really be nice if someone with skills (not me) finished this source port.

very good except it makes me feel claustrophobic :|
and the crazy speed you get when running.. makes me dizzy.. maybe walking should be default..
I suck ass at this game :P
I kept getting only 30% of the secrets and not all the treasure nor the kills..

use WinRAR. Much better than WinZIP, knows much more formats, and compresses 1.5 times smaller. It has all the features of WinZip, it even allows you to build fully featured installers from your archives that place shortcuts in the start menu and all.

@HangFire: it's weird that you have a little white border around each image of the HUD, I don't have that here, is it really like that in game or is it just the screenshot ?

Check this out:

Requires Doom/Doom 2/Final Doom. Supports MD2 files.

and if you want a free archiver which can unpack rar files (but not make rar files):
http://sf.net/projects/sevenzip
(free software licensed under GNU Lesser GPL, you can actually incorporate its code to your non-free program)

Uhh, when you die the game stops for like 10 seconds and you can't access the menu. Can you fix that?

from what PMB has said and what PMB has in his todo file it seems he doesn't want to work on it anymore.. (just a guess):|

NetCode... Unfinished... Maybe we could make it ;)
I have some experiance in WSOCK coding... UDP ;)
Need to download it :)
ANd I like the real wolf3d :) First real 3D game, software rendering ;)
There's one more project to check out
http://www.booyah.com/projects-hitokiri.html
Tiny Half-Life ;)

P.S. Real Wolf3D didn't have that gun (from ScreenSHot)

The original had that gun. There was a knife, a pistol, that smg (might not have quite looked like that in the original but they both shoot the same) and then the chaingun.

Yep, I didn't change anything in the behaviour of the game (what could be called the "physics" :D). The only improvement are MUCH better graphisms, a 3D model renderer for the entities and for some of the walls (cells, imperial eagle) and remastered sounds.

I'd love to see OpenGL lighting added to it. Aspirin, if you read this, you know OpenGL well don't you ? Wouldn't you want to have a quick look at it ? :P

Heyyo,

Heh, sounds cool, I'll have to check it out... once I get freakin' internet at home again.... :(

If you search around the net, you can also find a windows version of Duke Nukem: the Atomic Edition. It works GREAT... lol, reminds me when I used to have a crappy mac, n' could barely run it at 640x480... lmao. :P I wonder if dukebot works for it though? ;)

I can't believe I avoided this post for so long. Wolf3d was the first fps I ever played.

Would this source port work with Spear of Destiny? I beat Wolf-3D when I was a kid, but never SOD, all I had was the shareware version of it.

Heyyo,

Heh, I think that's the one I got Jeffrccar, but you need strong connections, cause too much lag will crash the server. :P
